This'n'That; January Eighth [Cross-Border Trucking]

A Saturday "This'n'That?!?!"
Since I've been reconciling "Clown Prince" obama's Saturday Blathers, I've not published a "This'n'That" column on a Saturday. I've just today, decided that a column of general, important information will be published as the obama regime necessitates, and they do today!!
Over my working life, I've been a self-employed carpenter and cabinet-maker, a product engineer in 'high-end' office furniture and both an over-the-road and a local, truck driver. Truck driving was--by far--the favorite and most lucrative of my occupations. As such, I'm a life-member of OOIDA-"Owner-Operator, Independent Drivers Ass'n;" as a life-member, I receive IMPORTANT email notifications from time-to-time; as below:

National OOIDA Call to Action Alert: Cross-border trucking with Mexico
OOIDA to me

Folks in Washington need to hear from you!
Yesterday the U.S. DOT released a “Concept Document” that it contends will serve as a starting point for renewed negotiations with Mexico regarding a potential future cross-border trucking program. While this document is not a formal proposal for a new program it is a big step in that direction. Initial reactions to this document from Mexican officials seem to indicate that they are going to step up their pressure on the U.S. government to open the border to Mexican trucking companies and drivers.
The top, experienced Mexican drivers make 13 cents per mile and a $20 per diem. You would be kidding yourself if you think a large scale pilot program won’t significantly affect you. At the very least it will weigh down rates, but it will also very likely impact the availability of loads as shippers and brokers move towards the significantly reduced transportation costs that Mexican truckers will offer.
Please start talking to your elected representatives in Washington now as this issue will undoubtedly come to a head sometime in the near future. Establishing a dialogue with lawmakers and their staff now will ensure that those folks will pay attention to your concerns when the day comes that the Obama Administration produces a new trucking program for Mexican companies and drivers.
To reach your Senators and your Representative in the House, call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, provide the operator with your home zip code. The operator will connect you with the offices of your elected representatives.
To write and/or fax to your Senators:

Essentially--as I see it--the "Clown Prince" intends to use the Mexican professional driving population to his further efforts in destroying America, as we know her!! This 'Cross-Border' trucking fiasco is so detrimental to Americans' highway safety that the ever-liberal "Slick-Willie" Clinton did everything in his power to prevent it for the entirety of his presidency!!
Folks, I've seen a form of 'cross-border' trucking as it exists today. Currently, Mexican trucks and truckers are only allowed to operate in commercial zones, no further than twenty miles north of the U.S.-Mexican border.  During many of my years as a commercial driver, my legal home was Carrollton (Dallas-area), Texas, and as such I had the opportunity to both load and deliver to the border cities in that state. The things I've seen would 'curl your hair!!'

Commercial driver or not; EVERY AMERICAN should be concerned with this development!! I intend--AS YOU SHOULD--to contact my senators: "Chuckie-Cheese" Schumer and Kirstin "The Invisible Senator" Gillibrand (and my representative: Dorothy "Geeze-Louise" McIntosh Rodham Slaughter) to protest this proposed legal invasion by Mexican truckers!!

{*}
Mexicans cutting each-other (AND any other driver in the way!) off at intersections, just to be first at the docks!
Mexican trucks in all states of disrepair; bald tires, no fenders, no mud-flaps, head and tail lights hanging by the wires, drivers using hand-held mirrors to replace outside mirrors, just to name a few!
Mexicans generally have a COMPLETE DISREGARD for traffic laws, 'rules of the road!' (More than a few Mexican drivers--in violation of federal cabotage laws--have been arrested hundreds and thousands of miles outside the approved 20 mile 'commercial zones;' as far north as Michigan, Minnesota, Maine, etc!!)
Who in the Soros/obama regime will be designated to prevent vehicle abandonment at various warehouses, truckstops, rest areas, on-ramps, off-ramps, interstate highway medians, as Mexican truckers defect-and-disappear 'into the woodwork' of the American landscape?!?!
Call, fax, email, snail-mail your senators and representative-TODAY!!!
Til Nex'Time....
