- Wednesday, March 9: The 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Lejeune, N.C., is alerted to deploy for military and humanitarian contingency operations off the coast of Libya.
- Wednesday, March 9: "Clown Prince" owe-bama hosted a "TV party" at the White House to watch the Chicago Bulls vs. the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bulls won.
- Thursday, March 10: Forces loyal to Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi recapture the city of Zawiyah from rebels.
- Thursday, March 10: French President Nicolas Sarkozy formally recognizes the provisional "National Council" as the legitimate government of Libya and urges other governments to send aid to the rebels.
