Is Your Shotgun Going Away?!?
The shotgun--as we know it today--first made it's appearance in a primitive form in 1776, just in time for the American revolution. It's nearest 'ancestors' are the smoothbore rifle and the blunderbuss, neither of them nor the shotgun have rifled barrels (lands and grooves). These weapons have been used in every armed conflict since then; at times, the weapon-of-choice of some (including yours, truly!). I've always maintained it's more advantageous to wound most of several adversaries, than to kill one of several adversaries.
The ATF has been studying the possibilities of further reclassifying and regulating shotguns in their continuing efforts to subvert the Second Amendment. You and I can agree that owe-bama is the most aggressive 'gun-grabber' in the modern era, right?!? His ultimate goal--via the ATF--is to completely circumvent the Second Amendment. If this comes to pass, another phrase I'll subscribe to is: "....from my cold, dead hands!"
The ATF has been studying barrel lengths, pistol-grip stocks, in an effort to classify various shotguns as 'sporting weapons' or 'distructive devices.' I intend to go this weekend to buy another 'distructive device;' one with a 16-1/2" barrel, 6-shot capacity and pistol grips.... then defy someone to come for a visit!!!
