Haven't They Spent Enough?
[from: Taxpayers for Common Sense www.taxpayer.net ]
Congress has been pretty busy recently. In the last six months, they have run for reelection and have spent at least $1.5 trillion attempting to reverse our nation’s economic decline. After they get back from this week’s recess, they are poised to finally finish a massive spending bill left over from last year. Fresh off of passing [the largest wealth transfer in history], the House next week will take up a $410 billion omnibus spending bill. The legislation combines the nine remaining spending bills for fiscal 2009 that the Congress punted on before the election. These spending bills are necessary to keep the lights on and the government running through next year [Given current evidence-is it really necessary to "keep the lights on and government running?? The taxpayer would be far better served if the crooks just went home AND STAYED THERE!!]. Before skipping town for the November elections, lawmakers had approved funding to run the Pentagon and the Departments of Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs. Now, they have to take care of the rest of the agencies. Right now much of government is operating under temporary funding at last year’s levels [Comparatively, last year's levels ARE GOOD!!]. When lawmakers return Monday, they will have two weeks to pass the new spending before the temporary funding expires. Even though reports are that the bill is written, most lawmakers, and the public, have not seen it. We need to get back on the track of allowing everyone at least several days to read legislation before making lawmakers vote it up or down["Fat Chance'a That!!! Public scrutiny is THE LAST THING the socialists want!!]. And let’s face it, we’re already almost halfway through the fiscal year (started October 1st), so a few days here or there are not going to matter.
Just A "Wee-Bit" Of Hyprocrasy? ‘Outrageous Conflict of Interest’ It’s been reported that Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow wants hearings on “accountability” in radio, suggesting Democrats are eyeing a return of the Fairness Doctrine. What’s not been widely reported is that the Michigan lawmaker is married to a media executive with ties to left-wing radio. During a recent interview with syndicated radio-host Bill Press, Stabenow said: “I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the 'fairness standard,' whether it’s called something else — I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves.” She didn’t mention that her husband Tom Athans is the co-founder and former CEO of Democracy Radio, which supported “progressive” talk radio, and was executive vice president for programming at left-wing Air America. Columnist Camille Paglia recently wrote: “Debbie Stabenow, who has been in the aggressive forefront of the campaign to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, is married to Tom Athans, who works extensively with left-wing radio organizations and was once the executive vice-president of Air America, the liberal radio syndicate that, despite massive publicity from major media, has failed miserably to win a national audience. “Stabenow's outrageous conflict of interest has of course been largely ignored by the prestige press, which should have been demanding that she recuse herself from all political involvement with this issue.” Since talk radio is overwhelmingly dominated by conservative hosts, and liberal talk radio draws few listeners, the “equal time” provision would likely force many radio stations to pull popular conservative hosts from the air rather than air low-rated liberal hosts. “I remain incredulous that any Democrat who professes liberal values would give a moment's thought to supporting a return of the Fairness Doctrine to muzzle conservative shows,” Paglia opined. “Government surveillance of the ideological content of talk radio is a shocking first step toward totalitarianism.”
Ya Ever Wonder Why?
Ya wonder what's the real reason Nerobama, Nancy Porklosi and Scarry Harry Reid pushed through the biggest spending bill in history-without proper debate, without Republican input, and without any public scrutiny? They are trying to turn the United States into a one-party country and to put the Republican Party out of business once and for all. The massive appropriation called a stimulus – some $787 billion of your money-is really a political war chest for the Democrats. They want to change the face of American politics forever, and they want to use your taxpayer money to do it. They want to use billions from our treasury to reward their political friends-and have huge amounts of cash to dole out before the 2010 and 2012 elections. Some people have wondered why, if the country is in dire need of emergency “stimulus,” most of the money appropriated by this law will not even be spent this year. Instead, spending will go on for five to 10 years. There is no mystery here, as the answer is simple: These billions in taxpayer funds will fund the Democrat political machine for many years to come!!
What's Actually Behind All This?
You must remember – the media won’t tell you this – that Nerobama is a product of the corrupt political machine in Chicago headed by Mayor Richard Daley. Chicago is run as a one-party city. The Democratic political machine and the government are one in the same. There is no real debate in Chicago. Deals are brokered in the back rooms among the ward leaders, the mayor and their cronies. What the political machine decides, the public has to accept!! The city council serves simply as a rubber stamp-much the same way the Congress just acted for Obama. Public money in Chicago is used to protect and serve the interests of the machine. Nerobama is simply replicating the Chicago machine in Washington. It is a frightening thought because our freedoms depend on a vibrant two-party system. But that’s what you believe, not what Nerobama and his handlers believe. Barack Obama and his Chicago handlers, which includes his Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, also a congressman from the Chicago machine, have a starkly different view. They want a one-party system headed by a strong man [handled by strong handlers]. The current Roland Burris confligration is strong evidence of "machine politics".... ain'a dam' one of'em [in or out of Congress] would know the truth "if it hit 'em over the head!!"
Til Nex'Time....
