Why bother running a billion-dollar campaign to have people actually vote on your policy positions when you can scare people both mentally and physically into keeping you in power?
Many tyrannies have done this throughout the years. If we look around the world today in countries like Iran, North Korea, Venezuela and Russia, we can see plenty of “questionable” elections.
One of the things I used to say a lot was “It’ll never happen here,” because I’m a patriot. I believe in America and the principles that this country was built on. But on top of being a patriot, I’m also a political scientist. Yes, I sat through a decade of college education to learn theories behind multiple forms of government and how people can be manipulated.
And when I see what has been going on in America over the past two years, my eyebrow more than raises. There have been many more efforts to thwart elections and manipulate the way we think than ever before.

Some 350,000 Chicago schoolchildren have spent the past few days either on the streets, sitting around empty school buildings, or at home. Their teachers, on strike at the behest of the Chicago Teachers Union, have been absent from classrooms that should have been filled with the noises of a bustling back-to-school season.
Notably, tens of thousands of their public charter school peers were in class this week, spared being in the crossfire of an education fight that has to do with everything but education. Their non-unionized teachers have been on the job, hard at work.

Entrepreneurship Real Key to Success
I had the honor and pleasure to speak at the second annual Constitution Day event in Las Vegas on Saturday and came away inspired but also depressed. Several local speakers told wonderful stories about America and living their dreams.
Dolly from the Philippines came to America thirty years ago seeking the dream. Dismissing the victimization rhetoric she heard in college about all the obstacles for women she focused on all the opportunities for everyone.
John became an American citizen last year and also borrowed $4,500 from a friend to open a printing shop. Not only did people tell him opening a business was bad but it was a recession and it was printing. Well, he has hired five workers and his business is growing. I hear smarty pants journalists and politicians mock Mitt Romney for saying "borrow money and start a business" as if it's impossible. People waste a lot of money on things they don't need and if there is a willingness to make small sacrifices then it's possible to start a business.
Pietro left Italy forty years ago, landing first in Canada but always wanting to be an American. He got a chance to live in Minneapolis but decided it was too cold and packed up the family for Vegas - a couple decades before it became a boomtown. He worked hard and now owns a restaurant. Morning Bell: Time for a True Opportunity Agenda
Occupy Wall Street’s pathetic first birthday last week confirmed that the longstanding reports of the movement’s death have not, in fact, been exaggerated. So why are we keeping it alive by talking incessantly about income inequality instead of focusing on what really matters — opportunity and upward mobility?
All this huffing and puffing about widening income gaps — coupled with strident calls for wealth redistribution — detracts from the urgent need to shore up our threatened American Dream and develop an opportunity agenda. The nation’s attention should be squarely focused on expanding everyone’s prospects — especially those at the bottom who most need a hand up and a way out.
What matters is not how much more those at the top earn in relation to those at the bottom — they are, after all, not in competition with one another — but rather the real needs of those at the bottom and the opportunities for advancement available to all Americans. And while government “spreading the wealth around” would surely equalize outcomes — the Left’s Dream — it would neither address the real causes of poverty nor expand the real opportunities and earned successes that define the American Dream.
A new Heritage report defends the American Dream from liberalism’s misguided attempts to redefine it along statist and egalitarian lines and explains why income inequality is not an obstacle to advancement in the United States. What really matters — and continues by and large to thrive — is upward mobility.

If you plan to vote for Obama in the 2012 elections, you have identified yourself as being in favor of ending the United States of America and of willingly accepting your position as one of Obama’s slaves.
Observation: I suppose you can aspire to being one of his House Slaves.
You will, also, be voting for the Obama syndicate’s dictatorship over you, your family’s and all of your yet-to-be-born (if you will even be allowed to procreate at all) progeny. For Seniors, your fate is already sealed if Obama retains the Office of the Presidency of the US. Obama on the Middle East
Where is the president’s partisan snarling when we need it?
The last three and a half years, Barack Obama has gone out of his way to bow, apologize, contextualize, and scapegoat in order to win Middle Eastern affection. Yet, his reset, “Bush did it” policy is now in shambles, and he apparently has nothing with which to replace it.
So I have a modest suggestion. Obama has a formidable arsenal of invective that he has unleashed against conservatives, Republicans, and just about anyone else on the domestic scene he doesn’t like. Why, then, not redeploy these fire-in-the-belly attacks against those who kill Americans abroad?
All Obama has to do is imagine that the mobs in the Middle East are not misunderstood Muslims — who overreacted a bit to an offensive American video — but rather suspect conservatives and opponents of progressive thought. Then, mutatis mutandis, Obama might get fired up and level a much-needed warning.

In Libya, U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens and three colleagues were murdered Tuesday. Earlier that day, protesters in Egypt stormed the U.S. embassy and tore down the American flag.
It was “the day the roof fell in,” proclaimed blogger and historian Walter Russell Mead. Barack Obama’s “efforts to reconcile the U.S. and moderate Islamism — in part by distancing the U.S. from Israel — have angered Israel without reducing Islamist bitterness against the United States.”
In other words, his Middle East policies are in shambles. His assumption that a president “who doesn’t look like other presidents” would endear America to Arabs has been proven wrong.
So have other assumptions. Like the idea that Iran’s mullah regime would negotiate with us if we uttered soothing words and turned a cold eye on Iranian dissidents, as Obama did in June 2009. And the idea that creating distance between the United States and Israel would lead to [....]

Occupy Wall Street Should Apologize to Libya

Hundreds of kids, retirees and union knockabouts showed up on Wall Street yesterday to celebrate a movement that is famous more for what it isn’t than what it is. Judging by the numbers and the shrug with which Occupy Wall Street protestors were greeted on Monday, the group that claims to represent the 99 percent is suffering from a severe identity crisis. Maybe the Guy Fawkes masks they wore were the first clue that they had no idea what or who they really were. They likely had no idea who Fawkes really was. Fawkes tried, but failed, to blow up the English Parliament.
The OWS protests petered out last year amidst disease, disagreements, crime, fist fights and the sudden realization that worldwide global warming was gonna result in a very long and very cold winter on the protest line. Salena Zito, a reporter with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, watched Mitt Romney's Wednesday morning news conference from a diner in Wisconsin. Customers paid careful attention to the TV as reporters repeatedly asked Romney if he had made a mistake by criticizing President Obama's handling of the embassy crises in Egypt and Libya. The exchanges left no doubt that Romney's questioners thought he had made a mess of the situation.
But Zito found an entirely different reaction in the diner. "People were just floored by the press," she says. "The group was pretty mixed between Obama supporters and Romney supporters, and even the Obama supporters were astonished by how they felt the press was driving the story. One guy said, 'My God, six out of seven questions were the same question.' Another guy said, 'Why aren't they asking him anything serious?'" What Zito saw was entirely anecdotal; maybe she just found a group of people who coincidentally thought the same thing. But the reactions at the diner raise a question: There's a near-consensus among the political class that Romney made a disastrous error in the embassy matter. But what do actual voters think?

This is not at all a conspiracy theory. I don't do conspiracy theories. This is a very well designed, well planned and they hope, brilliantly executed plan to help President Obama win a second term. The mainstream media has no intentions of sitting on the sidelines and merely objectively reporting the news of the election contest while watching Barack Obama become another Jimmy Carter. They will create the perception, via skewed polls, that Obama is winning and then hope the campaign can take advantage of this perception and steal enough votes to actually win the election. Then the perception, and the polls, will validate the stolen election and make it look all so plausible and realistic. If you don't believe they are doing this, then ask yourself how a president who is doing worse economically than Jimmy Carter was can somehow be reelected?
There are two major components to the mainstream media strategy to get Obama reelected. The most well known of the two is the coverage of the campaign. Worth just over $21 billion and now in the cross hairs of the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Adelson has made history: He is the first person to spend $70 million to sway a presidential election, and he plans to spend more — perhaps as much as $100 million — by Election Day. Two Democratic pollsters confirm major polls skewed against Mitt Romney

On the Fox News segment “Campaign Insiders” today, Democratic pollsters Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen both confirmed their belief that major polls are skewed in favor of the Democrats by over-sampling of Democratic voters when the surveys are conducted.
The Campaign Insiders segment is co-hosted on the Fox News Channel weekly on Sundays and Monday by Doug Schoen, Pat Caddell, and former New York Republican Congressman John LeBoutillier.
Last week's Pew poll shows a ten point lead for President Obama, 51 percent to 41 percent, and the last Democracy Corps poll showing a 50 to 46 Obama lead. Two Democratic pollsters confirm major polls skewed against Mitt Romney

On the Fox News segment “Campaign Insiders” today, Democratic pollsters Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen both confirmed their belief that major polls are skewed in favor of the Democrats by over-sampling of Democratic voters when the surveys are conducted.
The Campaign Insiders segment is co-hosted on the Fox News Channel weekly on Sundays and Monday by Doug Schoen, Pat Caddell, and former New York Republican Congressman John LeBoutillier.
Last week's Pew poll shows a ten point lead for President Obama, 51 percent to 41 percent, and the last Democracy Corps poll showing a 50 to 46 Obama lead.
