"Clown Prince" Weekly Blather; December 15th

    On Friday, we learned that more than two dozen people were killed when a gunman opened fire in an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. Most of those who died were just young children with their whole lives ahead of them. And every parent in America has a heart heavy with hurt.  Among the fallen were also teachers – men and women who devoted their lives to helping our children fulfill their dreams.  So our hearts are broken today. We grieve for the families of those we lost. And we keep in our prayers the parents of those who survived. Because as blessed as they are to have their children home, they know that their child’s innocence has been torn away far too early.  As a nation, we have endured far too many of these tragedies in the last few years. An elementary school in Newtown. A shopping mall in Oregon. A house of worship in Wisconsin. A movie theater in Colorado. Countless street corners in places like Chicago and Philadelphia.
[What I'm not telling you:  Why is it that the nation's "big-wigs" like me--your exalted ruler--suggest that the country PRAY for those lost in a tragedy as well as those who've survived the same incident??  Why do we "big-wigs" wait until the miscreants among us get the upper hand before calling for prayers??  Just as with the executive branch of the federal government, in atheism we've allowed the minority to rule over the majority.  
    This time--and future 'times' going forward--when counting up the tragedies for emphasis will not bring forth the desired remorse; remember it was I--your exalted ruler--who said, 
"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun." 
Words and phrases like the aforementioned, are--and will be--taken out of context at the whim of the speaker; the context of my using the phrase won't matter a whit, so long as it buttresses the next speakers' usage!  Only the confrontational aspects of my phrase will matter in the future!!]

Any of these neighborhoods could be our own. So we have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this. Regardless of the politics.  This weekend, Michelle and I are doing what I know every parent is doing – holding our children as close as we can and reminding them how much we love them.  There are families in Connecticut who can’t do that today. And they need all of us now. Because while nothing can take the place of a lost child or loved one, all of us can extend a hand to those in need – to remind them that we are there for them; that we are praying for them; and that the love they felt for those they lost endures not just in their own memories, but also in their community, and their country.

[What I'm not telling you:  While I abhor any loss-of-life, this mindset certainly will not permeate the national pamphleteer corpse whose very existence depends upon controversy; the greater, the better!! In the near future, look for these topics to come up:

the Second Amendment;

federal gun control measures;

United Nations' Gun Control measures, among many others.

    This reasoning--by said corpse--is diametrically opposed to the meaning intended by our Founding Fathers.  Their reasoning would put a handgun in every purse, under every jacket in the Sandy Hook Elementary School.  Imagine the lives that would have--could have--been saved had the school's adult population been first trained; then armed as the first line of defense for the school's defenseless population!!

    The intentional, deeper regulation of handguns-in-public-places does little more than signal the miscreants of a defenseless segment of population is available for robbing, raping, plundering, murdering or just killing for the hell-of-it!!  Look at Chicago; look at New York City; look at the District of Corruption!!  These cities have restricted the LEGAL ownership of handguns!!  With the assumption that most citizens are law-abiding;  the miscreants are forearmed with the knowledge that there will be little or no resistance to their miscreantic deeds!!  The Congress must put forth a FEDERAL conceal-carry permit; a permit that will be valid across state-lines.  This legislation would negate the communist mindset of 'a disarmed public is a defenseless public!!']
