This'n'That; May Second[ThugPolitics]

Chicago "Thug Politics" Goes International!
[The 'thug' aspect of "Chicago Thug Politics" has a long and colorful history!!  Below are several illustrations of some of Chicago's "most effective thugs."  Remember, Chicago served as a 'political primer' for the most well known Chicago Thug:  The "Clown Prince" obama.
The current mayor--Richard M. Daley--has taken his thuggery to a whole new level:]

[Friday, April 30, 2010]  Fearful that America’s Supreme Court will soon strike down Chicago’s handgun ban, frustrated by the Illinois legislature’s rejection of his anti-gun agenda, and repudiated by American courts and legislatures over his plan to sue federally licensed manufacturers and dealers of firearms for third-party crimes, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley (D) is showing contempt for his own country’s and state’s institutions, by seeking a foreign entity to enforce his anti-gun agenda against the American people.
   This week, Daley called for “redress against the gun industry” in the World Court, in The Hague, Netherlands. Forgetting or not caring who his constituents are, Daley blurted “This is coming from international mayors. They’re saying, ‘We’re tired of your guns, America.’”
    Daley’s global gun control fantasy received the endorsement of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter (D), whose enthusiasm for international law is apparently matched by his novel interpretation of the United States Constitution. “I love the Second Amendment,” Nutter recently said, but “I have a First Amendment right not to be shot.” Nutter’s utterly ignorant statement proves that in our country, you can be elected to public office while knowing remarkably little about the Bill of Rights. Nutter acknowledged that the Daley’s scheme is a “long shot.” But, he said, “you never know until you try,” adding “The political establishment in many state capitals—and certainly in Washington [is] so deathly afraid of the NRA that people cannot make the right decision for their own constituents.”
   And that’s not the only outrageous proposal put for forth by Chicago politicians of late. Illinois State Representatives John Fritchey (D) and LaShawn Ford (D) have decided that the best way to battle crime in “gun-free” Chicago is to militarize the city. The two legislators recently called on Illinois Governor Pat Quinn (D), Mayor Daley, and Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis to bring in the National Guard in an effort to thwart crime.
   So in a city that is quickly starting to sound more like a banana republic, law-abiding citizens are denied the means to defend themselves, while the best suggestion anti-gun lawmakers can come up with to address crime is to emasculate the Chicago police department, and bring in soldiers to occupy the city and patrol the streets!
   It’s a sad day in America when lawmakers would rather turn to National Guard patrols of city streets than to allow law-abiding citizens the choice to legally own and carry firearms for self-defense.

The Most Crooked Mayors In Chicago's History

  • Levy Day Boone [1855-'56]
  • A great-nephew of Daniel Boone, graduated from the medical school of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky and arrived in Chicago in 1835. Boone had a medical practice with Charles V. Dyer. Elected first president of the Chicago Medical Society in 1850 and a prosperous physician whose wealth came from canal lands and downtown real estate. He was elected mayor in 1855 as a Native American or "Know Nothing" candidate.  He established the first Chicago police force and barred all immigrants from city jobs. He also proposed an ordinance which would close taverns on Sundays and raise the cost of liquor licenses by 600%, sparking the Lager Beer Riot by the German-Americans.
  • Thomas Dyer [1856-'57]
  • A meat-packing partner of former Mayor Chapin, Dyer was elected mayor in 1856 on a "Pro-Nebraska" slate as Stephen A. Douglas turned the Chicago mayoral election into a referendum for his side of the slavery question. Reportedly, 1,500 Irish residents of neighboring Bridgeport (which was not yet annexed to the city) were imported by the Democrats to help swing the election to Dyer.
  • Fred Busse [1907-'11]
  • Prior to serving as mayor, he was the Illinois State Treasurer (1903–1905).  German American, he was the first mayor to serve a four-year term, was a saloonkeeper politician and the first Chicago mayor without British ancestry.  He attempted to reform Chicago by appointing a vice commission, but Busse's mayoral tenure is noted for its extensive corruption and presence of organized crime in the city.
  • William Hale Thompson [1915-'23; 1927-'31]
  • William “Big Bill” Thompson practiced the politics of the “wide open town” to the delight of bootleggers and gangsters. A mayor who accepted campaign funds from Al Capone and enriched himself from politics, Big Bill was a far cry from the civic-minded founding fathers and economic titans who ran the office in the nineteenth century. Big Bill Thompson left his widow $1.5 million in unmarked bills in his safety deposit boxes.
  •    [From the Chicago Tribune (20 May 1979)]:
  • "Big Bill" Thompson, his detractors said, had the hide of a rhinoceros and sometimes the style of one, but Chicago liked him enough to make him mayor for two straight terms, from 1915 to 1923 and then again for a third term in 1927-31. Known also as "Big Bill the Builder," his 1927 campaign included attacks on the King of England for alleged interference in Chicago affairs and help at the precinct level from henchmen of Al Capone. At Thompson's death, several million dollars in cash were found stuffed in his desk drawers. He is not among those listed as Chicago's reform mayors.
  • Edward J. Kelly [1933-'47]
  • Following the assasination of Mayor Cermak, Kelly was hand picked by his friend, Patrick Nash, Chairman of the Cook County Democratic Party, for the mayoralty election of 1933. Together, Kelly and Nash built one of the most powerful, and most corrupt, big city political organizations, called the "Kelly-Nash Machine."
[One could easily be justified in assuming that the "Clown Prince" obama has taken the policies and programs of several of Chicago's mayors to heart:
  • Boone-Usurious tax and fee levies. {Taxes and penalties associated with obamaCare ring a bell?}
  • Dyer-Transporting voters between precincts for multiple votes. {The SEIU "Purple Shirts" in Philadelphia ring a bell?}
    Thompson-Untold millions-of-dolllars in a safe-deposit box and his office desk {Huge campaign contributions to the "Clown Prince" obama from the same corporations he now vilifies ring a bell?}
  • Kelly-Developed the most powerful, most corrupt political organizations. {"Clown Prince" obama's many websites--both private and government related--soliciting cash and support ring a bell?}
[Another point-to-ponder:  "Clown Prince" obama has his panties all in a wad over Arizona's decision to deal with their illegal immigrant problems when the federals won't; but he has yet to mention Mayor Daly's decision to take his communistic desire to ban guns beyond America's shores--to the international court.....Does something stink here!?!?......not really, just "thug politics," as usual!!]
