This'n'That; May Twenty-Third[Carlisle Car Show;Restaurant]

One "Helluva" Weekend!
Well, almost everything went well over the course of the weekend.  The possible exception was our first  night's lodging.  The closest to Carlisle, Pa., I could get a reservation was a Rodeway Inn, Shippensburg, Pa.  This was run by a WHOLE Indian {India} family and, as one might expect, the room was far inferior to those run by real, legal, Americans!  But, not to dwell on that, we were able to get the second night's lodging right in Carlisle!!  About four miles from the car show at the Carlisle Fairgrounds.  As luck would have it.... the Super8 was almost directly across the street from our FAVORITE RESTAURANT in the area, The Middlesex Diner.

Anyone running up and down I-81, the Middlesex Diner is a MUST SEE-MUST EAT!!  {Enter 1803 Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle Pa., 17013 into your GPS!!}  The Young Miss Lovely and I have the same tastes in food and frequently order the same thing.  This is what we got for FIVE BUCKS, EACH:
  • {All this completely filled one of those oblong 'china' platters}
  • Two eggs, any style [we chose scrambled]
  • One huge portion of home fries
  • One huge portion of Corned Beef Hash
  • One 'bottom-less' cup of coffee
[I honestly don't know how they make a profit; stay in business!!]

Here's photos of some the cars we saw, some are 'kits' that I was interested in:

This is a "Woody-Wagon" kit car.  It sits on an S-10 frame with a Chevy V-6, and GM running gear.  The owner has about 6 months of part-time assembly into the project.

This [blue] is a fiberglas [kit] replica of a 1938 Simca, sedan-delivery.  The body sits on a 4" square tube frame with Mustang II front end. It's driven by a SUPER-tweeked Buick V-6; it has hit 130 mph, a couple of times!!  Owner says it needs 'wheelie-bars' to keep it from going over backward!!

This appears to be a near-perfect replica of a 1936 Mercedes Benz Cabriolet.  With the exception of the seats, the car looks as if it could be an original.  I couldn't find a single mark on the body; someone takes really good care of this beauty!!
Til Nex'Time....
