A Patriotic Response To The "Clown Prince;" 01/22/2011
The White House
January 22, 2011
Here’s the truth about today’s economy: If we’re serious about fighting for American jobs and American businesses, one of the most important things we can do is open up more markets to American goods around the world. That’s why I met with China’s President Hu Jintao at the White House this past week. We’re now exporting more than $100 billion a year to China in goods and services. And as a result of deals we completed this week, we’ll be increasing U.S. exports to China by more than $45 billion, and China’s investments in America by several billion dollars. Most important, these deals will support some 235,000 American jobs. And that includes a lot of manufacturing jobs. That goal is why I fought so hard to negotiate a new and better trade deal with South Korea – a deal with unprecedented support from business and labor – that will support more than 70,000 American jobs. And that’s why I traveled to India last fall to help pave the way for $10 billion in new deals for American businesses and more than 50,000 new American jobs.
[What I'm not telling you: Let me start this segment with a little quip from Party Chairman Hu--
"Why you having a meal of this size for me? Why you need all these people around, just to talk privately?"
And, those were just the first two questions!! You should have heard the venom the party chairman served up for me about my managerial and fiscal abilities:
"The Chinese people have given you lot of money; they dislike learning that you waste money on this unnecessary meal; money they worked hard for--much like your American 'Tea Pot' radicals!!" {Here the translator broke in to correct Hu--"Honorable Chairman, the term is the 'Tea Party' movement"}
"More than this meal, you and your government waste money at every turn!! You play golf allatime; you fly all over the world, allatime; you on vacation, allatime--this is not why we bought all your debt when 'that fat Soros guy' asked us to!! Soros told the communist committee members that when we had bought enough of this nearly-worthless paper, "The People's Republic of China" would have 25% of the seats in each branch of your legislature. You must bring Soros here-I need answer to: 'How much is enough?' "
Whew!! I was grateful when that mini-meeting ended!! Thank Allah, that part was in private!! Finally, I was able to bring Soros' concerns to the fore; He and I can not continue to 'snow the public' for much longer. We need some solid changes in the areas of trade and U.S. security. We are having an exceedingly more difficult time keeping the American public convinced that trading sensitive military and commercial technology for really crappy toys, tainted pet-food and defective drywall is a good deal. We can not compete so long as Chinese manufacturing essentially uses quasi-slave labor!! With the Yuan currently valued at $00.151US, the average American auto worker earns approximately 250 Yuan in pay and benefits, per hour!! Conversely, the average Chinese laborer earns 3.75 Yuan per hour. In a 3,000 hour work-year, the Chinese earn 10,800 Yuan, while the American earns 875,000 Yuan. The Chinese government continues to manipulate the monetary system in their favor; flooding international markets with what amounts to federally subsidized products-making it impossible for European and Western Hemisphere companies to compete!!]
Now, these may just sound like statistics. But yesterday, I saw what that means firsthand when I traveled to a GE plant in Schenectady, New York. This plant is manufacturing steam turbines and generators for a big project in India that resulted from a deal we announced around that trip – a project that’s helping support more than 1,200 manufacturing jobs and more than 400 engineering jobs in Schenectady. Good jobs at good wages, producing American products for the world. At the same time, GE has also been investing in innovation, building a clean energy center, an advanced battery manufacturing plant, and other state-of-the-art facilities in Schenectady that are resulting in hundreds of new American jobs and contributing to America’s global economic leadership.
[What I'm not telling you: 'Supporting' is not--by any stretch--CREATING!! These 'jobs at good wages' depend largely on federal grants and subsidies. There is not a 'green energy' segment in the country--on the planet--that can truthfully stand on it's own; stand without government subsidies or--more importantly--government mandates!! We continue to support the 'greenies' with billions in cash and mandates in part, to make it appear that we're creating jobs hand-over-fist, when in reality we're doing nothing more than buying jobs for the favored few!! To illustrate what I'm talking about, let's just take the simple ear of corn. Each year, the Farm Bill includes mega-billions of dollars in corn subsidies for the simple reason of keeping the corn market-price artifically LOW!! This has several positive (political) results: It serves to reward the mega, corporate farms and ag-businesses; It serves as an incentive to include high-fructose corn syrup in practically everything we eat, drink, wear, drive and use on a daily basis. The artifcially low price combined with other subsidies, make the development and production of ethanol fictitiously profitable. Negatively, it's nothing more than putting food in the gas tank!! With millions and billions starving around the world, this seems tantamount to murder!! True, the American consumer would suffer with corn at true market prices; but so would the diversion of monies to the F-O-F (Friends-of-Fascism)! We'll leave the destructive effects of ethanol on the automobile engine for another day; surfice it to say--ethanol is far more destructive than it is beneficial!! Subsidizing the simple ear-of-corn amounts to an additional subsidy to the 'green energy' industry; farce!!]
Leading the world in innovation. Opening new markets to American products. That’s how we’ll create jobs today. That’s how we’ll make America more competitive tomorrow. And that’s how we’ll win the future. While I was in Schenectady, I announced that Jeff Immelt, GE’s CEO and one of the most imaginative and visionary business leaders in America, has agreed to head up our new Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. The purpose of this council is to help us find ways to grow our economy by investing in our businesses here at home. And under Jeff’s leadership, I’m confident that they’ll generate good ideas about how we can spur hiring, educate our workers to compete in the 21st century, and attract the best jobs and businesses to America rather than seeing them spring up overseas. We’re living in a new and challenging time, in which technology has made competition easier and fiercer than ever before. Countries around the world are upping their game and giving their workers and companies every advantage possible. But that shouldn’t discourage us. Because I know we can win that competition. I know we can out-compete any other nation on Earth. We just have to make sure we’re doing everything we can to unlock the productivity of American workers, unleash the ingenuity of American businesses, and harness the dynamism of America’s economy.
[What I'm not telling you: I gotta tell ya.... I think "Georgie-Peorgie-Puddin'-Pie" scored with that one!! Soros' creation of "The Council on Jobs and Competitiveness" serves as a coup in our defying the 'Tea Party' mandate of 'SMALLER GOVERNMENT; LESS SPENDING!! The 'Jeff Immelt' thingie--not so much!! Here, the reader needs a bit of a 'brush-up' on the phrase "words have meanings." Remember when President Bush signed the 'TARP' legislation after my temper-tantrum?? The stated purpose of that legislation was to bail out the American banks that were insolvent or were holding a large amount of 'toxic' assets. General Electric's financial arm-GE Credit Corp is neither a bank, nor did it hold more than a minimal amount of 'toxic' assets. Soros used some of his shady political connections to have GECC declared 'a bank' and thus was given $16 Billion in TARP funds--even though General Electric is the largest--and a highly profitable--industrial company in the world!! All of them; Jeff, General Electric and GECC; were large donors--both recorded and unrecorded--to my last "Campaign of Fluff," so Jeff's chairmanship is nothing less than a blatant pay-off for his support!! (Soros has quiet assurances that Jeff and the stock-holders will also support the "Campaign of Fluff-Redux" we kicked off at the 'Arizona Tragic Memorial Pep Rally') Many--Soros included--see this new 'Council on Jobs' as an admission that I don't have a clue when it comes to anything fiscal!! My regime on it's own, hasn't been able to come up with any plans on invigorating the economy and/or the jobs market--not that they've(we've) been trying very hard!! Although I protested as much as I'm allowed to; Soros wanted the following statement loaded onto the teleprompter:
"Leading the world in innovation. Opening new markets to American products. That's how we'll create jobs today."
The point of my argument was: Is the statement even relevant today?? If so, why was it not relevant two years ago??
**As for myself: I can't wait to see what George is having loaded on the teleprompter for the "State of the Onion Show!" I hope you're excited, as well!!]
