The Sunday 'Report;' 03/27/2011

What Makes George Soros 'Tick?'
I have long considered Mr Soros an adversary of the United States' constitutional democracy.  By word and by example, Mr Soros appears to desire a reshaping of said government into an oligarchy with himself as the chief potentate!
When 'lifting the skirts' of the owe-bama regime, one can find Soros' "fingerprints" all over the 'under-things' as evidenced by the skewed treatment he's accorded by said regime.  Does 'Petrobras; Gulf Drilling; Gulf FPSOs-ring a bell?!?  Early reports of Soros Fund Management liquidating it's $800++Million investment in Petrobras was a ruse to disguise the Fund's preferred stock investment of unknown value.
Many--myself included--feel that George Soros is the factual head of American government; revealing HIS decisions through owe-bama's blather!!  One--again, myself included--would be well served to read Mr Soros' blatherings to gain more insight into his 'one-world government/open society' philosophies.

Japan’s Nuclear Crisis: Where Is Steven Chu?

March 14, 2011
By Iain Murray
Anyone who has done a little reading on the Japan nuclear crisis will know that we’re facing a less dangerous situation than Three Mile Island. The maximum exposure to radiation anyone has suffered has been 155 millirems, well beneath the proven threshold for ill effects (as I explained in my June 2008 article on nuclear power). While there is still a chance of meltdown, the fact is that this will not be a catastrophe. British tabloid editors can put away their “ATOM DEATH BLAST” headlines. Yet it is unfortunate that we have to go to these authors for accurate information, because our very own secretary of energy, Steven Chu, has until this point been a vocal supporter of nuclear energy. He has the authority and the credibility to be [....]

owe-bama Has Sabotaged American Energy Independence

March 9, 2011
by John Myers
The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world’s oil reserves, is in revolt. Some have blamed President Barack Obama for inciting chaos in Egypt; once an American pillar in the region.  Others have criticized the President for not clamping down on Moammar Gadhafi, the supreme leader of Libya for 42 years, who has created chaos and killed Americans.  The net result is, as the Middle East melts down, oil prices are ablaze: rising from less than $37 per barrel during their 2008 lows to breaking above the $100 per barrel mark. Soaring oil prices impact the cost of all things, from transportation to leisure to foodstuffs.  If Saudi Arabia implodes this will be the world’s worst energy crisis. The House of Saud has bailed out the Western world for four decades. But Saudi Arabia’s ability to ramp-up production is very much in question, as is the nation’s capacity to protect itself from what may be a revolutionary Jihad.   But Obama’s travesty has not only been [....]

MoveOn.org Rally Pumped by Van Jones Had Socialist Hosts
March 14, 2011
by Meredith Jessup
Last month, The Blaze exclusively reported that MoveOn.org’s “Rally to Save the American Dream” in Washington, D.C. was orchestrated by a group called the International Socialist Organization (ISO).

After waiting on a Freedom of Information Act request, The Blaze has exclusively obtained the event’s permit documents which clearly state the Dupont Circle rally permit was applied for and granted to ISO. However, new twists in the story paint a different picture of the apparent collusion between leftist groups, including the ISO, MoveOn.org, SEIU, Planned Parenthood and infamous former green jobs czar Van Jones.
On February 23 — just one day after Van Jones published his rally cry at the Huffington Post — Heather Kangas, an organizer with ISO filed a permit application with the U.S. National Park Service to reserve protest space [....]

U.S. Exporting Runaway Inflation
March 14, 2011
by Bob Livingston
The weather and inflation are leading to an explosion in prices and civil strife. Wheat prices have doubled in seven months, corn has increased more than 90 percent and soybeans have surged more than 55 percent. The fear of inflation is not child’s play. It carries the potential for even higher oil prices than those caused by the turmoil in the Middle East.  This brings to mind, have you stored food as we have repeatedly advised for a few years now? This advice is now turning to a red alert warning. Now that the currency is in serious depreciation (inflation), we can store food at a profit by buying it ahead of inflation.  I have studied the collapse of money in Weimar Germany. There became great scarcity of food and the stores were empty. We have [....]

How many times did owe-bama vote 'present' as a state senator?

I keep reading that Obama has "no legislative accomplishments" and at the GOP convention, Palin kept saying he voted "present" 123 times, or something like that. Can you please fact-check this?

There Aren’t Enough Millionaires
March 14, 2011
by Kevin D. Williamson
The rich can’t fund our deficits.
This may sound like a liberal parody of conservative economic thinking, but let me put it out there: America’s problem is that the rich don’t have enough money.
There, I said it. Let’s rumble.
When it comes to the Scrooge McDuck set, the problem isn’t that they’re not rich enough, it’s that there aren’t enough rich — not enough to do what liberals want to do, anyway, which is to balance the budget by increasing taxes on them. Let’s deploy some always-suspect English-major math:
There are lots of liberal definitions of “rich.” When Pres. Barack Obama talks about the rich, he’s talking about people living in households with income of more than $250,000 or more, the rarefied caviar-shoveling stratum occupied by the likes of second-tier public-broadcasting executives, Boston cops, nurses, and the city manager of Lubbock, Texas (assuming somebody in her household earns the last $25,000 to carry her over the line). Club 250K isn’t all that exclusive, and most [....]

Why Inflation Hurts More Than it Did 30 Years Ago

March 19, 2011
by Jonathon M. Seidl
Inflation spooked the nation in the early 1980s. It surged and kept rising until it topped 13 percent.  These days, inflation is much lower. Yet to many Americans, it feels worse now. And for a good reason: Their income has been even flatter than inflation.  Back in the ‘80’s, the money people made typically more than made up for high inflation. In 1981, banks would pay nearly 16 percent on a six-month CD. And workers typically got pay raises to match their higher living costs.
No more.
Over the 12 months that ended in February, consumer prices increased just 2.1 percent. Yet wages for many people have risen even less — if they’re not actually frozen.  Social Security recipients have gone two straight years with no increase in benefits. Money market rates? You need a magnifying glass to find them.  That’s why even moderate [....]

Mark Steyn; Mark Levin;  John Boehner

March 19, 2011
By Maggie
I can’t tell you how I hate to start down this road of attacking John Boehner, but the time has come, at least for me. I have gone along with cutting programs each and every week, but believed it when told in the long run they would get the job done. I didn’t like the continual Continuing Resolutions after the first one. THEN I read this week, that as we cut a mighty $6 Billion, on the same day we added another $72 Billion to the debt. Mark Steyn is saying John Boehner is wearing Bob Dole’s suit, and Mark Levine says Boehner has weakened the Republican Party. I agree with both Marks.
Mark Levin points to Boehner’s refusal to use a government shutdown to make happen what we desperately need to happen:

“You weakened your own hand, you weakened the Republican Party, but more importantly you’re undermining conservative principles and the case we need to make. Why do you think Obama’s not negotiating with you, Mr. Boehner? Why do you think Mr. Reid could care less what you have to say? Because you have now backed yourself into a corner. They know your recent $6 billion in cuts. They know very well because those were the cuts they offered and same with the $4 billion before that. Those $10 billion in cuts were offered by the liberal Democrats. Now what are you going to do?”
{*}
"I think John Boehner has basically climbed into the Bob Dole suit, and I think they misunderstand the lessons of the 2010 election, which is that the tea party chose to work within the diseased husk of the Republican Party it loathes."

Approval for First-Ever Use DFPS

March 17, 2011
by Kate Durio
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) today provided the final approval necessary for Petrobras America, Inc. to begin oil and natural gas production at its Chinook-Cascade project using a Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) facility. This will be the first time this technology is used in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. BOEMRE approved the project's Production Safety System permit and Supplemental Deepwater Operating Plan (DWOP), to ensure that stringent safety regulations were met. The FPSO has a production capacity of 80,000 barrels of oil per day and 16 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. With the completion of [....]
