College Students Protest for Right to Carry Guns on Campus

Most college campuses forbid students to carry concealed weapons on campus. But some students are pushing back, claiming that campus guns bans leave them “defenseless.”
(CNSNews.com) – “Stop colleges from trampling on the rights of good people wanting to defend themselves.” That is the message the group Students for Concealed Carry wants to send to state lawmakers around the country.
The grassroots, conservative organization of more than 40,000 supporters is sponsoring a national silent protest April 8-12, in which students will wear empty gun holsters to class to show that they are “defenseless” without guns on campus.

Louisiana Gov. Jindal calls on GOP to 'recalibrate'

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal called on the Republican Party to "stop being the stupid party" on Thursday as GOP leaders promised fundamental changes to help stave off future losses.
In the keynote address at the Republican National Committee's winter meeting, Jindal said the GOP doesn't need to change its values but "might need to change just about everything else we are doing."
"We've got to stop being the stupid party. It's time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults," he said. "We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments. I'm here to say we've had enough of that."
Jindal, thought to be a potential 2016 presidential contender, offered little detail in the 25-minute address. He called on conservatives to shift their focus from Capitol Hill number crunching to "the place where conservatism thrives -- in the real world beyond the Washington Beltway."
Hours before the speech, Republican leaders promised to release in March a report, dubbed the "Growth and Opportunity Project," outlining recommendations on party[....]

One of the least remarked upon aspects of President Obama’s inaugural speech was his attempt to co-opt the Founding Fathers’ Declaration of Independence to bolster his liberal-left agenda. Sure, the president quoted one of the most important sentences in world history: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” So far, so good. But he later connected the Declaration with his own liberal agenda: “ . . . that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our individual freedom ultimately requires collective action.” (My italics, not his.) He fleshed this out with his trademark class-warfare, income-leveling rationalizations. Such as: “The shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it.” He also talked about “Our wives, mothers, and daughters that earn a living equal to their effort.” He followed that up with, “The wages of honest labor liberate families from the brink of hardship.” Here’s what I take away from all this: [....]

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. has a message for residents: learn how to use a gun.
With budget cutbacks putting a strain on law enforcement, simply calling 911 might not cut it in a life-or-death or situation, Clarke said in a new radio ad this month. Safety is “no longer a spectator sport,” he says. “I need you in the game.”
“With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option,” Clark adds. “You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back. But are you prepared?”

And now,after watching President Obama’s second term inaugural address,it is clear we have a president who calls into question the meaning of the word “liberty.”
    It is incomprehensible that this former constitutional lawyer would argue during his speech that America has evolved to the extent that “our founding documents”no longer require us to “define liberty in exactly the same way.”But then again,it’s not so far-fetched considering what he’s done so far as well as the radicals he’s wrapped his life around. Members of Congress—who are about to debate raising the debt ceiling tomorrow—should have paid attention yesterday. The President was very clear that he sees no urgency about reducing the debt and cutting the deficit. In fact, in his second inaugural address, President Barack Obama was honest about his intentions to grow government in order to remake our country along his progressive vision.
    To sell his agenda, the President borrowed imagery and terminology from America’s first principles. But he twisted the American founding idea of “We the people” into the liberal “It takes a village.”  His rhetoric on the issues only thinly disguised his true meaning. Let’s translate some of his key points.

Obama on “we the people”: “For the American people can no more meet the demands of today’s world by acting alone than American soldiers could have met the forces of fascism or communism with muskets and militias. No single person can train all the math and science teachers we’ll need to equip our children for the future. Or build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores.”

Translation: In case you didn’t hear me the first time, you didn’t build that. He may have surrounded these words with lip service to the Constitution and America’s promise of freedom, but the President revisited his core message here: It takes a taxpayer-subsidized village to build things. According to his philosophy, entrepreneurs don’t create jobs—the government does. [....]

The re-election of Barack Obama hasn't done anything to make more jobs available to Americans, and there is no indication that it will. America now has 23 million people who want a full-time job but can't find one.
Obama doesn't think American citizens or businessmen create jobs. His Jobs Czar, Jeffrey Immelt, recently said on a television interview referring to China, where he has outsourced General Electric's light bulb plants, "state-run Communism may not be your cup of tea, but their government works."
In his first presidential debate last year, Obama claimed that passage of free trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Columbia would create U.S. jobs because they would double our exports and promote his goal of "a seamless regional economy." One year after Congress passed these trade deals, exports to Korea have declined by more than $1.2 billion in comparison to the same months the year before, while imports have risen.

Did Mahatma Gandhi have a premonition about his death? A 20-panel exhibition on his final fast-unto-death indicates this was so.
"Who knows my 'ahimsa' might be tested at the fag end of my life. A proverb says that a dying flame burns brighter before it burns out. May be, my end is approaching and I am fully prepared...," Mahatma Gandhi had said before going on fast Jan 12, 1948 against the communal riots sweeping the national capital.
The exhibition at the Nehru National Museum and Library (NMML), inaugurated by Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch Wednesday to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 65th death anniversary, looks at the fortnight leading to his assassination and the do-or-die crusade against the forces of parochialism and religious hate.
The 20 panels, "The Weapon of Ahimsa: Mahatma Gandhi's Last Fast", of text and visual prints mounted in the lobby of the library, present Gandhi's itinerary in a chronological manner.
