Conservative blogs are literally on fire over alleged comments made by Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to President Obama and one of his closest friends, who was recently addressing other Obama senior staffers…
“After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time.
Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve.”

Benghazi--No Mere October Surprise!
by Jonah Goldberg,
townhall.com
October 31, 2012
If you want to understand why conservatives have lost faith in the so-called mainstream media, you need to ponder the question: Where is the Benghazi feeding frenzy?  Unlike some of my colleagues on the right, I don't think there's a conspiracy at work. Rather, I think journalists tend to act on their instincts (some even brag about this; you could look it up). And, collectively, the mainstream media's instincts run liberal, making groupthink inevitable.
In 2000, a Democratic operative orchestrated an "October surprise" attack on George W. Bush, revealing that 24 years earlier, he'd been arrested for drunk driving. The media went into a feeding frenzy. "Is all the 24-hour coverage of Bush's 24-year-old DUI arrest the product of a liberal media almost drunk on the idea of sinking him, or is it a legitimate, indeed unavoidable news story?" asked Howard Kurtz in a segment for his CNN show "Reliable Sources." The consensus among the guests: It wasn't a legitimate news story. But the media kept going with it.
One could go on and on. In September 2004, former CBS titan Dan Rather gambled his entire career on a story about Bush's service in the National Guard. His instincts were so powerful, he didn't thoroughly check the documents he relied on, which were forgeries. In 2008, the media feeding frenzy over John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, was so ludicrous it belonged in a Tom Wolfe novel. Over the last couple of years, the mainstream media has generally treated Occupy Wall Street as idealistic, the "tea parties" as racist and terrifying.
To be sure, there have been [....]

Can The Police Take Your Gun(s) During A State Of Emergency?

October 31, 2012
As superstorm Sandy was preparing to pound the Eastern United States, Cam Edwards, of NRA News, joined Glenn Beck on his television program Monday to discuss Americans’ gun rights during a state of emergency.
You need to know your rights,” Beck said.
This is what happens when people’s rights are trampled in an emergency…Somebody takes advantage of that situation,” he later added.
Beck went on to air part of a news report about a woman who was disarmed and forced from her home during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

The Specter Of Taxmageddon Rises
by Amy Payne,
heritage.org
October 31, 2012
No amount of garlic, crosses, or exorcists can help us—only Congress and the President can chase this ghoul away.
It’s Taxmageddon.
A horrifying combination of expiring pro-growth tax policies from 2001 and 2003, the end of the once-temporary payroll tax cut, and just a few of Obamacare’s 18 new tax hikes, Taxmageddon will be the largest tax increase EVER to hit Americans. It’s nearly $500 billion in one year, starting January 1. That’s two months away.
The number $500 billion is rather large and abstract, so The Heritage Foundation has broken down the expected tax increases per person just for 2013:
  • Families with an average income of $70,662: tax increase of $4,138
  • Baby boomers with an average income of $95,099: tax increase of $4,223
  • Low-income workers with an average income of $24,757: tax increase of $1,207
  • Millennials with an average income of $23,917: tax increase of $1,099
  • Retirees with an average income of $42,553: tax increase of $857

15 Offbeat Holidays You Can Celebrate In November
by Laura Turner Garrison,

November 1, 2012

1. November 2nd: National Plan Your Epitaph Day

Getty Images
Whether you’re morbid or just really on top of planning ahead, take the day to decide which of your legacies you want set in stone. No pressure, but some claim that a “forgettable gravestone is a fate worse than death.”

2. November 3rd: Sadie Hawkins Day (the first Saturday in November)

The woman asking the man to a dance? How novel! Apparently it was quite novel back in the late 1930s, when Sadie Hawkins Day first appeared in the popular comic strip Li’l Abner. Worried that his homely daughter Sadie might never find a beau, Hekzebiah Hawkins organized a race in which his daughter would chase all the unmarried men in town to the finish line. If she caught one, he was legally obligated to wed her. The holiday became an annual event in the comic strip, and evolved into a real life event as well—with more dancing and less capturing. These days, Sadie Hawkins Day generally occurs on the first Saturday of November.

3. November 4th: King Tut Day

Getty Images
No, this day does not commemorate the great Egyptian king’s birthday. On this day in 1922, British archeologist Howard Carter and his crew discovered the entrance to King Tut’s tomb. This monumental discovery was one of the greatest archaeological achievements of the 20th century, and remains a huge attraction well into the 21st. The least we can do is take a day to honor it. History for the win!

4. November 5th: Guy Fawkes Day

Let anarchy and chaos reign today, although if you aren’t in England, you may get a lot of strange looks. The eponymous man behind the infamous “Gunpowder Plot” planned to blow up Britain’s Parliament in 1605, spawning annual [....]

Benghazi Attack Was Botched Kidnapping To Trade Blind Sheik
by Kris Zane,
westernjournalism.com
October 17, 2012
America watched in disbelief as Barack Obama tried to tell the American people that the attack on the Libyan consulate on September 11 was the result of an amateurish, anti-Muslim video that had been on YouTube for three months with barely three hundred views.
Then suddenly the administration announced that it was, yes, a terrorist attack, but that it was the intelligence community that had fed him bad information, even though we knew our intelligence community had known it was an al-Qaeda-linked attack within twenty four hours.
Why the equivocation?
Why the lies?
None of it made sense.
Until now. [....]

Jeb Bush Suggests Federal Government Not Crucial To Storm Recovery
by Justin Zink,
thehill.com
October 31, 2012
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush might have been looking to subtly undermine any polling bounce President Obama might receive for his handling of Hurricane Sandy, telling supporters at a campaign event in Tampa Wednesday that the efforts of local officials were the most crucial part of storm recovery.
"My experience in all this emergency response business is that it is the local level and the state level that really matters," Bush said.
"That if they do their job right, the federal government part works out pretty good."
The comment came as the former Florida governor was introducing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who was officially returning to the campaign trail for the first time since the storm hit. He and running mate Paul Ryan had temporarily suspended their campaign Monday afternoon as the storm began battering the Eastern seaboard.
The Republican ticket did seem to go out of its way to acknowledge the aftermath of the deadly storm, with screens at Romney's rally urging donors to give to the Red Cross.
"We love all of our fellow citizens, we come together in times like this and we want to make sure they have a speedy recovery," Romney said.
The Republican presidential candidate scrubbed his stump speech of direct attack on Obama, who continues to coordinate the federal response from Washington.  Ryan also softened his tone [....]

U.S. Fiscal Cliff--Think Hard About It NOW And On November 6th
by Ian Campbell,
canadafreepress.com
October 31, 2012
An article last Friday says that the tax hikes and spending cuts that will result after December 31 if Congress does not take action to avert those scheduled changes (broadly referred to as the ‘fiscal cliff’) have already in 2012 resulted in one million U.S. jobs being lost – and will result in loss of a further 6 million jobs through 2014 and a reported U.S. unemployment rate of 12%.
I don’t know whether the data set out in the article has any validity, but even if directionally correct it emphasizes the importance of the election results on November 6. obama's Courting The Mullahs
by P. David Hornik,
frontpagemag.com
October 30, 2012
It turns out that soon after taking office, President Obama tried to make friends—totally—with the mullahs’ regime in Iran.
The aim was to start with the opening of interest sections in Washington and Tehran, then progress to “full diplomatic ties, including U.S. and Iranian embassies and ambassadors in each other’s capitals, security cooperation…, [and] direct flights between the U.S. and Iran….” All this amity, it was presumed, would get Iran to give up its nuclear program.
So, at least, reports the Israeli daily Maariv (Hebrew original here; English report in The Times of Israel here), basing itself on “two Western diplomats very close to the administration.”

Americans who care about Israel should Vote for Romney
by Rich Sokol,
alineofsight.com
October 30, 2012
If policy towards Israel is a prime concern, it is clear that Americans should vote for Romney. Let's examine the assertions by those claiming Obama is good for Israel and look at the facts:
 ISRAEL'S SECURITY:
ASSERTION: Obama fully supports Israel's right to defend herself. US military assistance and intelligence sharing with Israel has never been better.
PROOF OFFERED: Obama has provided more US dollars for military assistance than any previous US President.
FACTS: It is true that US military assistance is at an all-time high. But don't give the credit to Obama as if he has inaugurated a new policy. Obama has simply continued to fulfill the 10 year Memorandum of Understanding between our countries. That agreement calls for approximately $3 billion per year in US military aid to Israel. This agreement was signed in 2007 between Israeli Prime Minister Olmert and President Bush to assure Israel of future military support in an increasingly hostile Middle East. Obama, like with other treaties, has simply fulfilled the terms of the agreement he inherited. He has not altered the terms - either positively or negatively - of the Agreement.
The US has given additional money to Israel to help build the Iron Dome missile defense system. But the impetus for that came from House Members. Colorado's own Doug Lamborn (R, Colorado Springs) was instrumental in securing this funding.
The Obama Administration deserves praise for continuing to fulfill the pre-existing Memorandum of Understanding [....]

Only 11 People Show For Chicago Teachers Union Victory Lap In Michigan
by Kyle Olsen,
townhall.com
November 1, 2012
The fact that only 11 people showed “for a discussion of the 2012 Chicago Teachers Union strike and what it means for Michigan unions,” could be signal that there may be underwhelming support for the unions’ Proposal 2 on Michigan’s statewide ballot.
The CTU has been on a victory lap of sorts around the country, crowing about its decisive win over Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel in the recent teachers strike. The tour recently made a stop in Ann Arbor.
Michigan union officials want to use the Chicago strike as a springboard for other Big Labor victories, like approval of Proposal 2 in next month’s election. Proposal 2 would enshrine collective bargaining privileges in Michigan’s state constitution, and allow union agreements to trump state law.
EAGnews has obtained video that shows the sentiments of some of the unionists on hand at the Ann Arbor rally. SEE IT HERE.

The Uncool President
by Victor Davis Hanson,
townhall.com
November 1, 2012
In 2008, Barack "No Drama" Obama was the coolest presidential candidate America had ever seen -- young, hip, Ivy League, mellifluous and black, with a melodic and exotic name. Rock stars vied to perform at his massive rallies, where Obama often began his hope-and-change sermons by reminding the teary-eyed audience what to do in case of mass fainting.
Money, like manna from heaven, seemed to drop spontaneously into his $1 billion campaign coffers. Ecstatic Hollywood stars were rendered near speechless at the thought of Obama's promised Big Rock Candy Mountain to come -- peace, harmony, prosperity and "5 million new jobs" in renewable energy alone.
Even the cynical Europeans went crazy over his anti-George W. Bush candidacy, one gussied up with faux-Greek columns and Latin presidential mottoes. Huge rainbow-colored Obama signs sprouted like weeds on America's upscale suburban lawns, and hip-hoppers rapped out Obama themes. All of America, it seemed, wanted to believe in this largely unknown newcomer.
The giddy media declared Obama a "sort of god," and "the smartest man with the highest IQ" ever to assume the presidency. Somehow, even legs got into the hero worship, as pundits praised the sight of Obama's "perfectly creased pant," and one commentator felt "this thrill going up my leg" when Obama spoke.
And why not, when the soft-spoken, adaptable African-American candidate preached civility and visions of a postracial America -- changing his speech from a white suburban patois to Southern black evangelical cadences as needed to woo widely diverse audiences.

obama Hiding Arms Shipments To Syrian Jihadists

We all remember Obama’s Fast and Furious debacle where he was running guns to Mexican drug cartels and then invoked executive privilege to keep all the documents out of the public’s hands.

That is exactly what he was doing.

Congressional Investigators Release First Part of Final Joint Report on Operation Fast and Furious
Committee Report,
oversight.house.gov
July 31, 2012
WASHINGTON, DC – House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Senator Chuck Grassley today released the first part of the final report on the joint congressional investigation of conduct in Operation Fast and Furious. The report presents evidence detailing numerous errors and decisions by ATF officials and the Arizona U.S. Attorney’s Office that led to serious problems – including inter-agency communication failures between ATF, DEA, and FBI. The failed operation might have contributed to the deaths of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and an unknown number of Mexican citizens. It also created an ongoing public safety hazard on both sides of the border. The failures happened because of conscious decisions not to interdict weapons and not to stop suspects in the hope that they would lead to cartel connections and a larger case.
“ATF and the Arizona U.S. Attorney’s Office failed to consider and protect the safety of Americans, Mexicans, and fellow law enforcement personnel throughout Operation Fast and Furious,” said Chairman Issa. “Testimony and a persistent reluctance to fully cooperate make clear that many officials at ATF and the Department of Justice would have preferred to quietly sweep this matter under the rug. Though they are among the most vocal objectors to oversight by Congress, this investigation has also shown that both agencies are among those most in need of additional scrutiny and attention from Congress.”
“The ATF wasted time, money and resources on wiretaps and put agents in harm’s way trying to learn about the links that other agencies had already made,” Grassley said. “It’s a classic case of government agencies’ failure to connect the dots. The ATF leadership claims it didn’t get the full picture from the FBI until after the case was over. We know the DEA was actively giving information to the ATF, but the ATF dropped the ball. Whistleblowers put the spotlight on Operation Fast and Furious. The ATF clearly needs to clean up its act, and the Department of Justice needs to make certain this kind of program is never allowed to happen again. This report provides a road map of what went wrong.”
This new report, “Fast and Furious: The Anatomy of a Failed Operation, Part I of III,” is based on transcribed [....]

New York University students in a class on transnational terrorism cannot pass the course until they “hypothetically plan a terrorist attack” of their own, including details about location and how they would carry out their dastardly plans.
An investigative report compiled by the New York Post, unveils how students of former Navy criminal investigator Marie-Helen Maras are asked to “step into [a terrorist’s] shoes” to write a 10- to 15-page paper on their proposed act of terror.
“In your paper, you must describe your hypothetical attack and what will happen in the aftermath of the attack,” Maras wrote in the syllabus obtained by The Post.
The students are also reportedly required to outline a government-response plan to the attack.

obama's Regulatory Agenda: The Calm Before The Superstorm
by Diane Katz,
heritage.org
October 31, 2012
After three years of unprecedented regulatory activity, the Obama Administration has noticeably slowed its rulemaking in recent months. A number of major rules remain under prolonged “review” by the White House, while publication of the regulatory agenda required by statute has not occurred.
This flouting of the law is disturbing enough, but it is made worse by the mounting regulatory uncertainty it has caused. The Administration should come clean about its regulatory intentions by releasing its agenda as required.
Lack of Transparency
Congress mandated a regulatory agenda from each agency in 1980 under the Regulatory Flexibility Act. The statute calls for release every April and October of a description of all rules likely to have a “significant economic impact” on a substantial number of small entities. A series of subsequent executive orders extended agenda requirements to all regulations under development or review by some 60 departments, agencies, and commissions.

Napolitano Uses Sandy To Make Government Internet Control Case
by Sam Rolley,

November 2, 2012
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is using Hurricane Sandy to attempt to make the case for more government controls over the Internet.
Earlier this week, Napolitano compared the power outages that are currently taking place in parts of New York City and the rest of the Northeast to what might happen if terrorists launched a cyberattack on power grids.
“If you think a control-system attack that takes down a utility even for a few hours is not serious, just look at what is happening now that Mother Nature has taken out those utilities,” she said at a cybersecurity conference, POLITICO reports. The damage can be “life threatening.”

NYC Sea Barrier Could Have Stopped Surge

The vast destruction wreaked by the storm surge in New York could have been prevented with a sea barrier of the type that protects major cities in Europe, some scientists and engineers say. The multibillion-dollar price tag of such a project has been a hindrance, but may appear more palatable after the damage from Superstorm Sandy has been tallied.
"The time has come. The city is finally going to have to face this," said oceanography professor Malcolm J. Bowman at Long Island's Stony Brook University. He has warned for years of the potential for a catastrophic storm surge in New York and has advocated for a barrier.

Ever Wonder How obama Got Into Occidental College?
by Charles Johnson,

November 1, 2012
Of the many enduring questions about Barack Obama’s past, perhaps none figures more than that of his still-unreleased academic records. But a series of articles written in Occidental College’s student newspaper, The Occidental, in 1978-1979 sheds new light on how Obama may have been admitted through the liberal arts college’s renewed, “hard nosed” and “rigorous” commitment to increasing the numbers of black and Chicano students and faculty on campus.
Federal privacy laws prohibit anyone, save Obama, from releasing material from his academic years, but contemporaneous documentation from the time gives strong indication of how he might have been admitted to the Southern California liberal arts college, despite an admitted lackluster academic performance at Punahou School, an elite Hawaiian prep school.

The Electoral College, Under Attack
by Mark Davis,
townhall.com
November 2, 2012
As Tuesday’s election ticks ever nearer, my fervent wish is a solid electoral college win for Mitt Romney. Not to get greedy, but I’d like it in the bag before the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
I hope this is not asking too much. October’s poll swing and a broadening visceral sense tell me this election may not feature the nail-biting closeness we have been told to expect for months.
But if we are to be ensnared by a down-to-the-wire finish, get ready for the attendant micro-focus on the Electoral College, and the resulting debate over whether it should be scrapped.
I spent more than a little of my early adulthood weighing the merits of deciding the presidency on purely popular vote. It took me too long to cast off the myopia and historical illiteracy that led to my ambivalence.
So on the eve of this election, I hope to unburden anyone troubled by this dilemma. To those actively seeking to ditch the Electoral College, I hope to dash your efforts on the rocks of shame.

These Senate Seats Are Crucial, Too
by Chip Wood,
Personal Liberty Digest
November 2, 2012
With all of the focus on the race for the White House, let’s not forget about some other crucial elections on Tuesday. It looks like the Republicans are a lock to retain control of the House. That’s encouraging, since the Constitution requires that all spending bills originate there. If the House won’t approve it, the President can’t spend it (not that this has had much impact on the big spenders in Washington in the past).
One of the blessings we got after the midterm elections in 2010 was that Nancy Pelosi was no longer the Speaker of the House of Representatives. One of the biggest disappointments was that Harry Reid retained his incredibly powerful post as Majority Leader of the Senate. He has used that position to keep every piece of reform legislation approved in the House from coming to a vote.
All of that could change on Tuesday — assuming the Republicans can win four more seats in the Senate than they hold now. Remember, unless there is a conservative majority in the Senate, there is not a chance that Obamacare will be repealed, that the bailouts will end, that any entitlements will be reformed, that the budget will be balanced or that the deficit will be reduced — even if Mitt Romney occupies the White House.
As Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) pointed out in an advertisement, “A president can campaign on good policies, but he doesn’t write the bills. As long as liberals are in charge of writing legislation, it will be difficult for a Republican president to sign the right bills into law.”

The Absolute Best Way To Profit From Emerging Markets
by David Sterman,
townhall.com
October 31, 2012
Earlier this month, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released its biannual assessment of the global economy and there were few surprises. The IMF's economists continue to focus on the deep troubles in Europe, the clear headwinds in place for the U.S. economy and the still-impressive resilience of many emerging market economies. So they updated their economic forecasts to reflect these recent global economic trends: "Relative to our April 2012 forecasts, our forecasts for 2013 growth have been revised from 2.0 percent down to 1.5 percent for advanced economies, and from 6 percent down to 5.6 percent for emerging market and developing economies."
Of course, 5.6% economic growth would be very welcome on our shores. To put that in context, [....]

Maybe They're Just That Dumb
by John Ransom,
townhall.com
October 31, 2012
Being president was always easy for Barack Obama.
But delivering on the big words has been considerably tougher.
Obama’s big troubles stem from the rigidity of the left’s broken ideas. They admit of no compromise. Consequently, Obama has subsumed his whole personality into an unworkable progressive ideology that was dead outside of academia- and news rooms- until he resurrected it.
It’s the idea that a benign government of technocrats and academics can engineer near perfect justice at the trivial cost in liberty and money to us.
Yes; maybe they just are that dumb to think it could work.
Everyone gets a mortgage, even though that’s an idea that already killed our economy once; renewable energy creates jobs, even though the federal investment in energy has shown no return in 30 years; everyone gets unlimited healthcare, even though the variety of healthcare already limited by the government is forcing us to bankruptcy; everyone gets a job, even though producing that results means forcing some out of the workforce. And to deliver on these promises all we have to do is take more money from people who have already given more money than rest of us combined.
What could be fairer? [....]

A Detailed Look At obama's Radical College Past.... Not Barry's!
by Charles Johnson,

Princeton, 1984.
Michelle Obama attends and promotes a “Black Solidarity” event for guest lecturer Manning Marable, who was, according to Cornel West, probably “the best known black Marxist in the country.” The event is the work of the Third World Center (TWC), a campus group whose board membership is exclusively reserved for minorities.
[Illustration]
Michelle Obama (Robinson at the time) was one of those 19 board members and a leader of the organization. She helped to dispense what was, in today’s dollars, a $30,000 budget. Of the 19 elected positions on the board, there were two reserved spots for each of the five ethnic groups TWC purported to represent: Asian, Black, Chicano, Puerto Rican, and Native American.
[Illustration]
The board also had representatives from the various minority organizations on campus, including Accion Puertorriquena y Amigos, the Asian-American Students Association, the Black Graduate Caucus, and the Chicano Caucus, among others. She also fundraised for the TWC by participating in its African-themed fashion show and fundraisers (see picture here). It was a controversial and racially-charged organization. And in looking at the group’s racial focus before and during Michelle’s tenure, we get a glimpse of her priorities while at Princeton.

obama's Layoff Bomb
by Michelle Malkin,
townhall.com
October 31, 2012
In June, a diffident and self-deluded President Obama claimed that "the private sector is doing fine." Last week, the private sector responded: Speak for yourself, buster. Who needs an "October Surprise" when the business headlines are broadcasting the imminent layoff bomb in neon lights?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last Tuesday that employers issued 1,316 "mass layoff actions" (affecting 50 workers or more) in September; more than 122,000 workers were affected overall. USA Today financial reporter Matt Krantz wrote that "(m)uch of the recent layoff activity is connected to what's been the slowest period of earnings growth since the third quarter of 2009." Some necessary restructuring is underway in response to the stagnant European economy. But more and more U.S. businesses are putting the blame -- bravely and squarely -- right where it belongs: on the obstructionist policies and regulatory schemes of the blame-shifter-in-chief.
Last week, Ohio-based auto parts manufacturer Dana Holding Corp. warned employees of potential layoffs amid "looming concern" about the economy. President and CEO Roger Wood specifically mentioned the walloping burden of "increasing taxes on small businesses" and the need to "offset increased costs that are placed on us through new laws and regulations."
Case in point: Obamacare. The mandate will cost Dana Holding Corp., which employs some 24,500 workers, "approximately $24 million over the next six years in additional U.S. health care expenses." As Ohio Watchdog blogger Maggie Thurber reported, the firm's Toledo area corporate offices laid off seven white-collar employees last Friday; company insiders told her more were on the way. They are not alone.
On Tuesday, Consol Energy issued a federally mandated layoff disclosure announcing its "intent to idle its Miller Creek surface operations near Naugatuck, W.Va." The move will affect the [....]

Could Military Voting Turnout Win Colorado For Romney?
by Hope Hodge,
humanevents.com
October 30, 2012
While a number of battleground states have reported dismal numbers of military absentee ballot requests in early counts, the western swing state of Colorado announced Monday that its ballot request totals for military and overseas absentee voters have already surpassed 2008 totals, with eight days to go until the election.
After low recorded voter turnout in these demographics four years ago, Congress authorized $75 million for the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act, which, among other provisions, established and staffed voting assistance offices at over 220 military bases. But early ballot request totals in a number of states showed an even more depressed military voting turnout than in 2008, and a bombshell report at the end of August from the Department of Defense Inspector General found [....]

5 Ways Next Week's Election Results Can Affect Your Retirement
[written by TheStreet Guest Contributor]
by Matthew Malone,
thestreet.com
October 31, 2012
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Between all the debating, advertising and robocalls, it can be difficult to focus on the many everyday parts of life that will be affected by a Romney presidency or Obama re-election. When it comes to finances, for most of us "Big Bird" and "big government" are less important than the things, big and small, that will influence the way we spend and save.
Retirement planning, of course, is among the most important elements of a sound financial plan, so it's critical to understand how the incoming administration's policies will make that more or less secure.
Here are the five most important ways the election can make our golden years more -- or less -- so.
1. Taxes
Tax policy is among the most uncertain outcome to the election. Democratic President Barack Obama hopes to keep the Bush-era tax cuts intact from all but the nation's top earners and raise revenue by closing loopholes. Republican challenger Mitt Romney wants to keep all the cuts intact but reduce deductions and loopholes to raise overall tax revenue. The good news: Neither candidate's plans are likely to affect the ability to deduct traditional IRA contributions from your taxes (Roth IRAs are funded with "after-tax" money). The candidates have generally [....]

(Ocala, Florida, October 30, 2012). Larry Klayman, the founder and chairman of Freedom Watch today announced that President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden have been criminally indicted for having willfully released classified national security information concerning the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound, U.S. and Israeli war plans concerning Iran and their cyber-attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The release of this information, among other harm to U.S. national security, resulted in the killing of members of Seal Team Six by terrorists and the arrest and imprisonment of American covert agents by Pakistan, such as the doctor who aided the CIA with regard to the bin Laden assassination. U.S.-Israeli war plans with Iran have also been compromised.

SUV Gets Stuck On Border Fence During Botched Smuggling Attempt

October 31, 2012
Two men attempting to enter the United States illegally early Tuesday morning were thwarted when their SUV got stuck on top of the border fence 20 miles west of Yuma.  Shortly after midnight, Border Patrol agents patrolling the Imperial Sand Dunes encountered a silver Jeep Cherokee attempting to drive over the International Boundary fence using a make-shift ramp extending from Mexico into the United States.  The ramp's flawed design caused the Jeep to become “high centered,” and unable to move as it drove over the precipice of the 14-feet-high fence.  When the agents [....]

obama Attacks Americans' Civil Liberties
by Jerry Philipson,
canadafreepress.com
October 31, 2012
Warrantless eavesdropping on Americans by federal government agencies has significantly expanded during President Obama’s time in office. The American Civil liberties Union has reported that there has been a dramatic increase in warrantless electronic surveillance under Obama and that between 2009 and 2011 the number of Americans who were subjected to telephone wiretapping more than doubled. During the same time period there was a 361 per cent increase in authorizations by the Justice Department for e-mail surveillance on Americans. There were 1.3 million demands on mobile telephone companies for information on their subscribers in 2011.
The problem has become so acute and the threat to Americans’ civil liberties by Obama and his administration so serious that a group of human rights organizations, attorneys and [....]

The 'Innocence' Of obama
by Daniel Greenfield,
frontpagemag.com
October 30, 2012
Ten years ago most left-thinking liberals were constantly worried about the erosion of civil liberties under the War on Terror, though they could rarely name an instance where an American citizen had actually experienced such an erosion.
This was, after all, before the days when naked scanners and drone strikes had entered the vocabulary, and the best they could do was to haul out Jose Padilla, aka Abdullah al-Muhajir, ACLU’s choirboy of the month, a Brooklyn-born convert to Islam who was being held in jail for no reason at all except aiding terrorists and plotting to build a dirty bomb.
Ten years later the lefty civil liberties types were proven right. The War on Terror did erode our civil liberties, and America’s first political prisoner in generations has spent a month in jail for making an inconvenient movie at an inconvenient time.
When Charles Woods, the father of Tyrone Woods, one of the Navy SEALS who died fighting in Benghazi, met with Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State assured him that “We’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video.” And they got him, officially on charges of violating parole, unofficially on charges of violently offending violent Muslims.

"Would I Want This Man In Combat With Me?"
by MajGen Patrick Brady (U.S. Army-Ret.),

[Maj. Gen. Patrick Brady, retired from the U.S. Army, is a recipient of the United States military’s highest decoration, the Medal of Honor. Get the full account of Gen. Brady’s Vietnam rescue operations in his book, “Dead Men Flying,” a riveting tale from America’s most decorated living soldier.]
In an election climate that reeks of economic chaos, we may be overlooking a greater threat to our future. Economically, President Obama, all by himself, is a target-rich environment. Voters just need to ask a few simple questions. Would I want this man to invest my family funds or run my family business – for another four years? Or, would I trust my family’s money to Mitt Romney? That should do it – but economics pales in the face of Obama’s emasculation, socialization and feminization of our military, which, although related, I believe is a greater threat to our future than economic miseries.
For veterans and those interested in the security of America, the question is: Would I want this man with me in combat? Could he be trusted to lead a military squad let alone be commander in chief? Can you picture Obama in a duck blind – or even holding a gun? Has he ever held a gun? (Be assured he will assault the Second Amendment if he gets a second term.) Can you see him as a fighter pilot a la the Bushes? Or commanding a PT boat as did John Kennedy? This is not a man I would want with me in combat and neither should America.
For me and many veterans, President Obama’s military priority was initially evident at his Inauguration. One of the inaugural balls honors veterans, including Medal of Honor recipients. For the first time in memory a president, Obama, snubbed that ball. His ignorance and disdain for the military continued when he put victory in the hands of the enemy in Afghanistan by announcing the date we would quit. Weak leaders often try to project an image of toughness by “kicking ass.” Accordingly, he fired a senior commander for a revealing story in that paragon of journalistic integrity – Rolling Stone.

The Real 'El Chapo'
by Scott Stewart,
STRATfor.com
November 1, 2012
A widely propagated myth would have us believe that Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera and his Sinaloa Federation are less violent than many of their competitors. Statements from journalists and analysts allege that Sinaloa is more businesslike than Los Zetas, whose reputation for brutality is well-documented, and that this business savvy somehow renders the group relatively benign. In turn, this has led many to believe that the Mexican government could broker a deal with the leader of one of Mexico's largest criminal organizations.
However, a close examination of Sinaloa's evolution demonstrates the group is hardly the hallmark of civility. In fact, the history of Mexico's cartel wars over the past decade reveals that Guzman, his Sinaloa Federation and the various cartels with which they partner have been more territorially aggressive than any other Mexican cartel.
Expansion and Escalation
Sinaloa incursions upset the balance of power that Miguel Angel "El Padrino" Felix Gallardo established in the late 1980s when he appropriated criminal territories to Guzman and his other lieutenants. Tens of thousands of people have died from the wars that arose from this imbalance.
This is because Guzman's expansion efforts necessarily entailed [....]

Emails Catch barackingham Palace Lies On Green-Energy Loans
by Marita Noon,
townhall.com
November 1, 2012
When he is confronted about the failed green-energy loan program, President Obama deflects blame—pointing to “career bureaucrats” in the Department of Energy (DOE) who supposedly approved the loans that have become an embarrassment to the White House.
For months, along with researcher Christine Lakotos, I’ve been reporting on, first, the junk-bond rated projects (such as Solyndra) that received fast-tracked approval from the DOE and, then, the failed and troubled stimulus funded companies. Solyndra was just the tip of the iceberg. Embarrassment after embarrassment has come to light as the projects touted as the hope for America’s future have filed for bankruptcy, sent money and jobs overseas, and faced technical difficulties.
The 1705 loan guarantee program had 460 applicants, but only 7% were approved—26 projects were funded. Of those 26 projects 22 were junk-bond rated—meaning private investors wouldn’t fund them. So why did we, the taxpayers?
Our research showed that at least 90% of the projects had close ties to the White House and other high ranking Democrats. Despite the obvious connection, President Obama has repeatedly denied any involvement—preferring to blame “career bureaucrats” who could take the fall with no political consequence.
In March, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, testified that, “We looked at the loans on their own merits.” Also, back in November 2011, he said: “I am aware of no communication from White House to Department of Energy saying to make the loan or to restructure.”
Just last week, [....]

obama Needs 'Secretary of Business' Like Clinton Needed An Intern- And For The Same Reason

November 1, 2012
As the clock heads toward midnight on the Barack Obama experiment, it’s nice to see that he continues to be the guy we said he was all along. I’m beginning to doubt he was even any good at being a community organizer.
After churning over all the options available to him- using the full-faith and credit of the United States; a one billion dollar campaign war-chest; $37 million in staffing costs at the executive office per year; a trillion dollars in pork barrel spending; QE4EVER!; recommendations from Nobel-prize winning economists (ha!), the top business experts that political contributions can buy (ouch!) and (deep breath) presumably THE 1-800 HELPLINE at the Small Business Administration… and here’s the plan to jumpstart our economy in the second term: Obama wants to create a U.S. Department of Business, with a cabinet-level secretary.
Yep. That’s it.
 Secretary Van Jones anyone?
Someone has to coordinate the upward revisions of the already ridiculous jobs, GDP and voter registration numbers. Someone has to wear the presidential knee pads when the economy won't cooperate.
“Isn’t this rich? Saturday Night Live couldn’t have thought of anything better,”

Friedman Foundation Takes Critical Look At Administrative Bloat In Public Schools

The Friedman Foundation has published an excellent report detailing the administrative bloat plaguing our nation’s public schools. The School Staffing Surge: Decades of Employment Growth in America’s Public Schools shows dramatic increases in teaching and non-teaching staff over the past five decades despite modest increases in student enrollment.
As we detailed in a recent report on growth in non-teaching positions in public schools across the country, student enrollment has increased just 8 percent since 1970, while the number of teachers has increased 60 percent, and the number of non-teaching administrative and other staff has increased [....]

Underestimating Our Voter Fraud Vulnerability
by John Fund; Hans von Spakovsky,
usatoday.com
October 21, 2012
Voter fraud is so rare that "you're more likely to get hit by lightning than find a case of prosecutorial voter fraud," asserts the liberal Advancement Project. An August study by News 21, a group of journalism students, claimed that to find only 10 prosecutions of in-person voter impersonation nationwide since the year 2000.
If state legislators worried about voter fraud are just imagining the problem, then it's that much easier to block laws requiring voters to use photo ID to prove they are eligible voters. But that's not quite the whole story. Evidence used to dismiss the problem turns out to be thin.
A large number of the nation's 3,031 counties never provided data, and the News21 researchers report that they sent out only 2,000 queries. Nor did the study mention the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling upholding voter ID laws, which found an "extreme difficulty of apprehending a voter impersonator" if ID isn't required. While voter impersonation is hard to detect, it is easy to commit. Earlier this year, James O'Keefe released a video of a 22-year-old undercover reporter who obtained Attorney General Eric Holder's ballot in Washington, D.C., and could easily have voted if he had chosen to.
Easy to commit fraud
Chaotic voter registration rolls make it too easy to commit voter fraud. A February study by the non-partisan Pew Center on the States found one in eight voter registrations were inaccurate, out-of-date or duplicates. Nearly 2.8 million people were registered in two or more states, and perhaps 1.8 million registered voters are dead.
Critics of voter ID laws also fail to note [....]

Networks Have Emails From White House Ordering Team To Stand Down

October 31, 2012
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Tuesday a U.S. senator told him that at least two news networks have emails from the White House ordering a counterterrorism team to stand down on a rescue mission at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
“There is a rumor — I want to be clear, it’s a rumor — that at least two networks have emails from the National Security Adviser’s office telling a counterterrorism group to stand down,” Gingrich told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren.
“They were a group in real-time trying to mobilize Marines and C-130s and the fighter aircraft, and they were told explicitly by the White House ‘stand down and do nothing. This is not a terrorist action.’”
He continued,
“If that’s true, and I’ve been told this by a fairly reliable U.S. senator, if that’s true and that comes out in the next day or two, I think it raises enormous questions about the president’s role, Tom Donilon, the National Security Adviser’s role, the Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, who has taken it on his own shoulders, that he said don’t go. Russia Takes Swipe At US Democracy Ahead Of Elections
[Blogger: Doesn't sound like 'more flexibility after my election' to me!!]
by Kirit Radia,

MOSCOW — Moscow’s Foreign Ministry took a shot at American democracy on Wednesday.
“The #US lectures the world on democracy and human rights, but looks only to its own laws when flaws in its voting system are pointed out,” the ministry tweeted from its English language account.
“The #US electoral system is decentralised, fragmented and obsolete,” the ministry added in another tweet moments later.
Opponents of the electoral college (which could include more Americans if one candidate loses next Tuesday’s election despite winning the popular vote) might not disagree with the broad strokes of that second point.
Of course, recent Russian elections have been marred by reports of widespread voter fraud. And since President Vladimir Putin’s inauguration in May, human rights activists have sounded the alarm about a string of new, increasingly restrictive laws and policies that appear aimed at intimidating Russia’s opposition.
The Russian Foreign Ministry’s statements came amid [....]

How To Spot A Flood-Damaged Vehicle
by AAA,
weather.com
undated material
Severe weather can cause flooding in a moment’s notice. After any major flood, auto dealers and car auction managers face the dilemma of salvaging or restoring flood-damaged vehicles.  AAA warns car buyers that flood-damaged vehicles can be shipped anywhere for resale, and they often continue to appear in the marketplace for up to a year after a major flood. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, vehicles that were flood-damaged in the hurricane affected areas were shipped throughout the United States for sale as both new and used cars.
If a car has been completely submerged, extensive disassembly may be needed for a thorough cleaning. Many parts of a car are difficult to clean and dry because they are hard to access. Door locks, window mechanisms, wiring harnesses, heating and air conditioning components and many other small devices are tucked away in hidden spaces. Initially, these items may operate properly [....]

An $8 Billion Trick?
Toying With Medicare To Fix Elex
by Benjamin Sasse; Charles Hurt,
nypost.com
April 23, 2012
Call it President Obama’s Committee for the Re-Election of the President — a political slush fund at the Health and Human Services Department.
Only this isn’t some little fund from shadowy private sources; this is taxpayer money, redirected to help Obama win another term. A massive amount of it, too — $8.3 billion. Yes, that’s billion, with a B.
Here is how it works.
The most oppressive aspects of the ObamaCare law don’t kick in until after the 2012 election, when the president will no longer be answerable to voters. More “flexibility,” he recently explained to the Russians. But certain voters would surely notice one highly painful part of the law before then — namely, the way it guts the popular Medicare Advantage program. For years, 12 million seniors have relied on these policies, a more market-oriented alternative to traditional Medicare, without the aggravating gaps in coverage. But as part of its hundreds of billions in Medicare cuts, the Obama one-size-fits-all plan slashes reimbursement rates for Medicare Advantage starting next year — herding many seniors back into the government-run program.
Under federal “open-enrollment” guidelines, seniors must pick their Medicare coverage program for next year by the end of this year — which means they should be finding out before Election Day.
Nothing is more politically volatile than monkeying with the health insurance of seniors, who aren’t too keen on [....]

"Clown Prince" Weekly Blather; November 3rd

A Patriotic Response To The "Clown Prince;" 11/03/2012
barackingham Palace,
District of Corruption
November 3, 2012
This weekend, millions of our fellow Americans are still picking up the pieces from one of the worst storms in our history.  I toured New Jersey on Wednesday with Governor Christie, and witnessed some of the terrible devastation firsthand. It’s heartbreaking. Families have lost loved ones. Entire communities have been wiped away. Even some of the first responders who repeatedly put themselves in harm’s way to bravely save the lives of others have suffered losses of their own.  Today, I ask everyone to keep them in your prayers. And as President, I promise them this: your country will be there for you for as long as it takes to recover and rebuild.  Throughout the week, I’ve been in constant contact with governors and mayors in the affected areas, who are doing an excellent job in extraordinarily difficult circumstances. And we owe the first responders and National Guardsmen who have been working around the clock our deepest gratitude.  Our number one concern has been making sure that affected states and communities have everything they need to respond to and recover from this storm.  From the earliest hours, I ordered that resources be made available to states in the path of the storm as soon as they needed them. And I instructed my team not to let red tape and bureaucracy get in the way of solving problems – especially when it came to making sure local utilities could restore power as quickly as possible.
[What I'm not telling you: Once again, Allah has come through for the devout muslims.  First--just when I needed it most--he came through with a natural disaster withwhich I can look "presidential."  Did you check out all those photos we set up with New Jersey Governor Christie?  Did I look presidential or what?  I am--just a little bit--pissed at Mayor Bloomberg of New York City; who is this little twerp to tell me and my minions to stay out of his city?!?  Doesn't he know I need all the photo ops--with all the 'victims'--I can get?  We missed out on lot'sa criers that would have looked good in re-immaculation ads going into this last week of campaigning.
Have YOU ever tried to hug a 400-pound man?  That's no easy task; a sight that's truly worth the price of admission!!  Governor Christie reluctantly allowed the photo and video ops you saw on television and the internet.  We had to promise him lots more FEMA financial and physical aid than he'd have gotten normally gotten through the national disaster aid application process.
Those first-responders; those National Guardsmen you've seen in the news reports?  That's what they do; they give the last measure of dedication; the last measure of assistance to those in need.  This is what they do when asked, day in-day out.  New York activated 1,000 guardsmen then bolstered the number by an additional 2,300; Pennsylvania-1,500; New Jersey-many Air Guardsmen for rescue, assessment flying missions.
As has been noted in several blogs--including this one--I've essentially admitted the regime's policies over the past four years; socialist, communist policies of every democRATic administration are--as "Ronaldus-Magnus" so accurately phrased it--are not the solution but are the problem.  As evidenced by the waivers to my policies that are necessary for this response action, all the EPA, all the Department of Transportation,  actually every regulation; every executive order I've demanded are revealed as nothing more than obstacles to good governance!!  Are you aware that to protect the few union workers in the oil transportation business those idiots in the 1920 Congress passed The Jones Act.  That legislation says that refined oil for U.S. delivery must be transported on U.S.-flagged ships, manned by U.S. crews (Read: UNION Crews!).  We had to issue a waiver to The Jones Act to facilitate the delivery of motor and heating fuel to the Northeast coast ports; how rediculuous is that?!?]
Before the storm hit, FEMA pre-staged emergency response teams from North Carolina to Maine, and deployed resources like food, water, and generators up and down the coast. As the storm passed, thousands of FEMA personnel were on the ground responding to those in need. And by midweek, the Department of Defense was ready to fly in cargo planes that could be loaded with trucks and equipment to help local power companies get up and running faster.  But recovery will be a long, hard road for many communities. There’s a lot of work ahead.  If you’ve been directly impacted by this storm and need temporary assistance getting back on your feet, you can call 1-800-621-FEMA, or apply at DisasterAssistance.gov. If you know folks who are still without power, please spread the word and let them know.   And if you don’t live in an affected area and want to help, supporting the Red Cross is the best and fastest way.  This week, we have been humbled by nature’s destructive power. But we’ve been inspired as well. For when the storm was darkest, the heroism of our fellow citizens shone brightest.  The nurses and doctors at NYU Medical Center who evacuated fragile newborns, carrying some down several flights of stairs.  The firefighters in Queens who battled an inferno from flooded streets, and rescued people from an apartment building by boat.  The Coast Guard crews from North Carolina who saved a sinking ship in stormy seas – and their rescue swimmer who, when he reached those in need, said, “I’m Dan, and I hear you guys need a ride.”  That’s who we are. We’re Americans. When times are tough, we’re tougher. We put others first. We go that extra mile. We open our hearts and our homes to one another, as one American family. We recover, we rebuild, we come back stronger – and together we will do that once more.
[What I'm not telling you: I'm not so sure I appreciate Mayor Bloomberg's endorsement for a second immaculation; because of my stance regarding 'global warming-climate change....'  How idiotic is that?!?  But.... I digress.  Speaking of the Idiot-Bloomberg:  The New York Marathon will go on?!?  Really?!?  All the assets; all the hotel room; all the manpower diverted for the participants?!?  Really?!?  Thankfully, he listened to someone with some sense; he cancelled the run.
As I may have mentioned before, this has been a great opportunity for me to demonstrate a 'foreign' appearance: that of looking and acting presidential.  It doesn't happen often!  Remember past presidents?  It's difficult to find a photo that shows President Reagan in the White House WITHOUT a suit and tie!  Even entering and exiting Air Force One, Marine One, the presidential limousine, without a suit and tie.  Me?  A totally different story; totally different photos.  Rare is it that I appear presidential, let alone act presidenital, let alone govern presidentially!!
As we go into this last weekend before the general election there are several things NOT to think about:
The 14+% actual unemployment rate;
The 47,113,096 persons on foodstamps;
The $16,042,000,000,000 (TRILLIONS) national debt that will take four generations to satisfy, if NO INCREASE from this point, forward;
The 23, 000,000+ Americans un- or under-employed;
The ficticious 5.5 million jobs created in past four years; more jobs on January 19, 2009 than exist today;
Circumvention of the Congress with my liberal use of executive orders;
Payoffs to labor union with the federal purchase of Government Motors;
Payoffs to supporters, donors with federal grants and loans to approximately 30 FAILED green-energy companies;
Need more reasons to vote for experience; to vote for a proven business track record??]

This'n'That; November Second #2; Real Change?!?

obama "Changing His Tune?"
"Clown Prince" obama said--on October 30th--that he was ordering the bureaucratic 'red tape' be sidestepped in order to provide continued federal aid to the Hurricane Sandy victims, going forward.  Is it just me or.... did the "Clown Prince" officially admit that the federal government--as well as the regime's increased RED TAPE--is an obstacle to private sector productivity?!?
Over thirty years ago, "Ronaldus-Magnus," in his first inaugural address--January 20, 1981--said:
"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem."
While President Reagan was speaking to the then-recent, on-going financial crisis--handed to him by the defeated President Jimmuh Cahtuh--the same phraseology applies to every calamity the government--at every level--attempts to correct!!  Is "Clown Prince" obama suggesting--as "Ronaldus-Magnus" believed--the size of the federal government be reduced, the regime be less intrusive to allow America's free-market system to function as designed?!?
Doubt it, but one can hope!!
Til Nex'Time....

This'n'That; November Second #1; Either-Or!!

Either Accept Non-Union Help OR Quit Pissin'n'Moanin'!!
I'm usually up by 4AM and start my day with listening to radio stations--via the internet-- from WBAP (Ft Worth-Dallas), to KLIK (Jefferson City, Mo), to WRVA (Richmond, Va) and on and on.  In practically every newscast on practically every station, they feature some 60-something lady--somewhere in New Jersey--whining about she's been out of power for 3 days and the government better get off their collective asses and restore it!!
Now it comes the news that VOLUNTEER power crews from Decatur Power, Decatur, Al., were refused permission to help in Seaside Heights, N.J.
Why?!?
They're not union!
Lady: Do ya want your power restored or not?!?
If I were you, I'd be in city hall verbally-figuratively and physically be kicking someone's ass!!
How ludicrous is that?!?
Help-is-help, whether they're forced to donate to "Clown Prince" obama's re-immaculation campaign, or not!!
Til Nex'Time....
