Eco-friendly car refrigerant 'turns into deadly gas it vehicle catches fire'

January 17, 2012A new "eco-friendly" car refrigerant expected to become the industry standard turns into a deadly gas if the vehicle housing it catches fire and should be shelved, it has been claimed.  The coolant for car mobile air conditioning systems, called HFO-1234yf, has been approved for use in the US, Japan and Europe and Toyota and Suburu have started fitting their cars with the substance.  It was chosen as it is produces 98 per cent less climate damaging that its predecessor, R134a.  However, a German expert on the compound has warned that it is should be scrapped as it is much more flammable than the current coolant and when heated above 500C (932F) releases hydrogen fluoride, a highly toxic gas. Temperatures in car fires can easily reach twice that heat. 
    "You have 600g of this cooling agent per car, which if it burned completely would produce 200g of hydrogen fluoride at a level of concentration that is very high. For a human just one gram is deadly – either inhaled in gas form, through the skin or when dissolved in water," warned Prof Andreas Kornath, an inorganic chemistry professor at Munich University who has been studying the substance for 20 years.  The odourless gas has no instant effect but once inside the body a person dies within a day or so in terrible pain due to internal burns and muscle failure.  "This product should not be on the market. There is a real risk every time a car catches fire, which happens 30,000 times [....]

    You’ll face a higher tax bill next spring if Congress doesn’t act to revive a series of tax breaks that expired Dec. 31, 2011. Among the breaks that Congress didn’t extend in all the sturm-und-drang over the payroll tax holiday are:
Alternative minimum tax patch
The AMT is a parallel tax system created more than 40 years ago to prevent excessive use of tax breaks by the very wealthy, ensuring they pay at least some tax. Taxpayers whose income exceeds the AMT exemption – in 2011, $48,450 for individuals and $74,450 for married couples filing jointly – must calculate both regular tax and AMT liability and pay the larger of the two amounts. But exemption levels have, at least tentatively, dropped to $33,750 for individuals and $45,000 for married couples filing jointly in 2012, which will expose 31 million taxpayers to the higher AMT this year, according to Tax Policy Center estimates.

Armed UAV Operations 10 Years On

    One of the most iconic images of the American-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan -- as well as global U.S. counterterrorism efforts -- has been the armed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), specifically the MQ-1 "Predator" and the MQ-9 "Reaper." Unarmed RQ-1 Predators (which first flew in 1994) were flying over Afghanistan well before the 9/11 attacks. Less than a month after the attacks, an armed variant already in development was deployed for the first time.
    In the decade since, the Predator has clocked more than a million flight hours. And while U.S. Air Force procurement ceased in early 2011 -- with more than 250 airframes purchased -- the follow-on MQ-9 Reaper has already been procured in numbers and production continues. Predators and Reapers continue to be employed in a broad spectrum of roles, including close air support (CAS), when forward air controllers communicate with UAV operators to release ordnance with friendly troops in the vicinity (CAS is one of the more challenging missions even for manned aircraft because of the heightened risk of friendly casualties). Officially designated "armed, multi-mission, medium-altitude, long endurance, remotely piloted aircraft," the second to last distinction is the Predator and Reaper's principal value: the ability to loiter for extended periods, in some cases for more than 24 hours.  This ability affords unprecedented situational awareness and physical presence over the battlefield. The implications of this are still being understood, but it is clear that it allows, for example, the sustained and constant monitoring of main supply routes for attempts to emplace improvised explosive devices (IEDs) or the ability to establish a more sophisticated understanding of high-value targets' living patterns. In addition, live, full-motion video for ground controllers is available to lower and lower echelons to an unprecedented degree.

Baltimore elementary school to kids: Wear purple or sit in the library

    The Baltimore Ravens have a "Purple Fridays" caravan that motors around the city hosting pep rallies for their precious purple Ravens. They've done it all year and it continues into the playoffs.  One stop Friday was at Roland Park Elementary where the kids were happy to hang out with Poe and Rise & Conquer, partially because they love the Ravens and partially because they weren't locked in the library.  In advance of the pep rally, a teacher wrote an email to parents indicating that any kid who didn't wear Ravens gear wouldn't be allowed to attend the pep rally but would be stuck in the library instead. Cities With the Highest Rising Home Prices

    The housing markets in most of these cities missed the bubble and bust altogether, and home prices continued to climb steadily after the national market went bust. These cities have diversified their economies, enjoy rising population and job growth, and have relatively low rates of unemployment and foreclosure.  The cities on this list that did go bust, such as Cape Coral, Fla., are beginning to recover, although home prices may still be bouncing around the bottom as buyers (particularly investors) dash in to nab bargains. The likelihood of continued double-digit price increases is slim, especially as more foreclosures come to market.
    All of the metropolitan areas we've ranked have a population of at least 200,000. Change in home prices reflects the one-year period through September 30, 2011, when the national average was -2.6% and the median home price was $171,250. We also report the change since the national peak in home prices, in the second quarter of 2006. Sales and inventory numbers were drawn from the most current market reports (October or November 2011). Unemployment rate is as of October 2011, when the national average was 8.5%. Foreclosure rate is as of September 30, 2011, when the national average rate was 1 of every 213 housing units, or 0.47%.

But that's exactly what a new study by Utah Valley University has found.  According to the study, Facebook is making us sad. Why? It's all about the kinds of pictures people to post on their pages.  Facebook photos generally depict smiling, cheerful people having good times, conveying a sense of happiness. Of course everyone likes to smile for the camera, so that good cheer may be inflated or false. If there was any doubt about Tim Tebow's ability to drive a passing offense at the NFL level, it most likely went away when the second-year quarterback made several big-time throws against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that loaded up against the run in the wild-card win. That 29-23 upset over the Steelers was followed by a 45-10 rout in the divisional frame at the hands of the New England Patriots in which Tebow regressed as a pure passer, most obviously because New England's point total forced the Broncos to pass more often, and the Patriots' defense knew it.

President Barack Obama made four recess appointments last week.Guess what? Barack Obama has found an opponent whose approval ratings are even lower than his own. So to kick off his re-election campaign, he’s decided to run against Congress.  The campaign against the obstructionist, do-nothing Congress started in earnest last week, when Obama decided to ignore the U.S. Constitution, recent Presidential tradition and even his own vote when he was a U.S. Senator by making four “recess” appointments.  There was just one teeny tiny problem with the stratagem; Congress wasn’t in recess. 
In case you missed the story — which was easy to do, because most Americans neither cared about it nor understood it — let me give you a condensed version of what happened. This is no mere tempest in a teapot, by the way. As I’ll explain below, this seemingly silly confrontation could have enormous legal implications for our country.  The brouhaha began last month. Rather than adjourn for the Christmas holidays, Republicans in Congress decided to do the absolute minimum to keep Congress in session, holding “pro-forma” meetings every three days.      Hello, everybody. On Thursday, I went down to Florida to visit Disneyworld. To Sasha and Malia’s great disappointment, I was not there to hang out with Mickey or ride Space Mountain. Instead, I was there to talk about steps we’re taking to boost tourism and create jobs.  Tourism is the number one service we export. Every year, tens of millions of tourists come from all over the world to visit America. They stay in our hotels, eat at our restaurants, and see all the sights America has to offer.  That’s good for local businesses. That’s good for local economies. And the more folks who visit America, the more Americans we get back to work. It’s that simple.  We can’t wait to seize this opportunity. As I’ve said before, I will continue to work with Congress, states, and leaders in the private sector to find ways to move this country forward. But where they can’t act or won’t act, I will. Because we want the world to know that America is open for business. And that’s why I announced steps we’re taking to promote America and make it easier for tourists to come and visit.  Frequent travelers who pass an extensive background check will be able to scan their passports and fingerprints and skip long lines at immigration at more airports. We’re going to expand the number of countries where visitors can get pre-cleared by Homeland Security so they don’t need a tourist visa. And we’re going to speed up visa processing for countries with growing middle classes that can afford to visit America – countries like China and Brazil.  We want more visitors coming here. We want them spending money here. It’s good for our economy, and it will help provide the boost more businesses need to grow and hire. And we can’t wait to make it happen.
[What I'm not telling you:   A huge 'thank you' to my opposing political forces for paying the freight for this almost-meaningless visit to Florida's--as well as America's--most popular tourist attraction.  The visit's primary accomplishment was cordoning off a major portion of the site as well as disrupting thousands of visitors' foot and vehicle traffic.  With tourism being the largest private-sector revenue stream not controlled by government socio-fascists, I met secretly with marxist-leaning Disney hierarchy to discuss my proposal of untold rules and regulations to strangle the tourism industry while still maintaining autonomy and the ability to convincingly place the blame on the conservative, "Tea Party-esque" forces in the state.
    As with all other owe-bamacRATic 'improvements' to immigration--including illegal border crossings--this 'fast-track' through airports and border entry points with scanible passports will benefit us.  Just as 'General' Holder has done with the Social-Justice Department with respect to immigration, this 'improvement' will quickly degenerate to a 'wave-through' at the United States' entry points.  We place far more importance on increased owe-bamacRATic voter numbers over any form of border security; adherence to immigration regulations.
    As the government--under either party--has proven, a reduction in the formal documents required for--permanent or temporary--entry into the United States works especially well for my muslim brethren!!  You can rest assured, when I'm replaced as your exhalted ruler, the immigration policies will tighten up until real border security will be the 'rule-of-the-day.']
    Too often over the last few months, we’ve seen Congress drag its feet and refuse to take steps we know will help strengthen our economy. That’s why this is the latest in a series of actions I’ve taken on my own to help our economy keep growing, creating jobs, and restoring security for middle-class families.  In September, we decided to stop waiting for Congress to fix No Child Left Behind and give states the flexibility they need to help our kids meet higher standards. We made sure that small businesses that have contracts with the Federal Government can get paid faster so they can start hiring more people. We made it easier for veterans to get jobs and put their skills to work. We took steps to help families whose home values have fallen refinance their mortgages and save up to thousands of dollars a year. We sped up the loan process for companies that want to rebuild our roads and bridges – putting construction workers back on the job. And I appointed Richard Cordray to be America’s consumer watchdog and protect working Americans from the worst abuses of the financial industry.  These are good steps. Now we need to do more.  On Tuesday evening, I’ll deliver my State of the Union Address, where I’ll lay out my blueprint for actions we need to take together – not just me, or Congress, but every American – to rebuild an economy where hard work and responsibility are rewarded. An economy that’s built to last.  I hope you’ll tune in. In the meantime, I’m going to keep doing everything I can to make this country not only the best place to visit and do business – but the best place to live and work and build a better life.

    As you will note, I've expressed a desire to initiate another round of 'buying the union vote' with more PORKulus spending on roads and bridges; spending that--in the initial PORKulus--never occurred!!  In keeping with George Soros' socio-fascists demands, I've refused to approve the Keystone XL pipeline project.  Said project would have created upwards of 20,000 IMMEDIATE jobs with estimates of 150,000-250,000 long-range jobs.  Luckily, these future jobs cannot be considered 'lost jobs;' they've never existed!!  I don't pretend to know how all this political crap works but Soros has assured me that my re-immaculation is almost guaranteed, no matter what I do!!  Be sure to watch my "State of the Onion" address, there may be another 'Joe Wilson moment!!']

    Where do they come from?!?  Where do the voters find them; under a particular type of rock?!?  Have said 'flakes' gone over the edge?!?  Headed up by Dennis 'The Flake' Kucinich, owe-bamacRAT, Ohio, along with John 'The Flake' Conyers, owe-bamacRAT, Michigan; Bob 'The Flake' Filner, owe-bamacRAT, California; Marcia 'The Flake' Fudge, owe-bamacRAT, Ohio; Jim 'The Flake' Langevin, owe-bamacRAT, Rhode Island and Lynn 'The Flake' Woolsey, owe-bamacRAT, California are all co-sponsors of the bill to form the Reasonable Profits Board.  Said board will be created by passage of H.R. 3784; the Gas Price Spike Act, coupled by a simile bill from the Senate.
    I'm doing my part:  I NEVER vote for incumbants at the state or federal level.  This should push YOU to do your part as well!!  The well-entrenched Ruling Class is so insulated from normal American life that they think this will pass as reasonable legislation!!  This has absolutely NOTHING TO DO with reasonableness, consumer protection or even sanity.  It's all about the money; all about the control!
    This speaks volumes to the devistating federal price controls.  Anyone old enough to remember the blocks-long gas lines of the Oil Embargo Era of 1973-74.  "Ahab-the-Arab" used the price and availability of middle-eastern and North African oil to punish those countries that supported Israel during the Yom Kippur War (October 6-25, 1973).   This embargo forced a U.S. policy of gas rationing; odd-even fueling days; week-end driving bans; Christmas lighting ban and the 'three-flag' information/warning system.
    This ludicrous proposal by said six federal miscreants is laughable!!  Corportations--be they in the oil industry or any other--do not pay taxes.  While they may 'write a check' to the Treasury, the expense is passed on to the consumer as part of the cost of doing business.  These added expenses (the taxes) will--and do--hit hardest, those least able to afford them.  The very "rich" people the Congressional miscreants habitually target, can easily afford any increase in fuel price.

    Back to said Congressional miscreants.  I suggest if they're pushing for the Reasonalble Profits Board, we should push for:
Reasonable Vetting Board:   owe-bama would STILL be looking for a job.
Reasonable Spending Board:  This would eliminate automatic growth in the federal budget.
Reasonable Debt-Limit Board:  This would go far to eliminate the huge owe-bamaesque national debt.
Reasonable Ethics Board:  Ferret out those Congressional miscreants who enrich themselves at taxpayer expense.
Reasonable Taxation Board:  To limit taxpayers' responsibility toward the Treasury.
Reasonable Entertainment Earnings Board: Align small and large screen actors and other entertainers' earnings to the MEDIAN U.S. earnings--say 125%.
Reasonable Sports Earnings Board:  Same as above with respect to professional sports performers.
Reasonable Federal Executive Compensation Board:  Same as above with respect to those like Franklin Ranes who bankrupted federal agencies for millions-of-dollars in annual pay.
The Ruling Class--of ANY party--has to go!!!!

EPA: Environment More Valuable Than Humans
    "Arschloch owe-bama's" EPA has determined that protecting the environment is a far higher priority than protecting America's HUMANS from certain DEATH!!  Said EPA has approved R-1234 refrigerant for use in the United States.
    European (Suburu) and Asian (Toyota) auto manufacturers are now ramping up to use this "killer cooler" in their new models.  While R-1234 (or HFO-1234yf) is more favorable to the environment,  accidents involving the refrigerant with fire, can cause DEATH in one or two DAYS!! Munich University chemistry professor Andreas Kornath said that 600 grams of the refrigerant when heated will produce 200 grams of highly toxic hydrogen fluoride gas.  ONE GRAM is toxic to humans when inhaled, taken through the skin or mixed with water.  Once inside the body, the victim will die a very painful death within two days from internal chemical burns and muscle failure.  Have a great day.... and be sure to thank "Arshloch owe-bama" and his EPA!!

"Arschloch owe-bama" Destroys MORE Serfs
    "Arschloch owe-bama's" refusal--for purely political reasons--to approve the Keystone XL pipeline project will have a far more devastating affect on the American populus than just the hundreds-of-thousands jobs he's killing.
    Those per-barrel oil prices we see published each day?!?  They're based on 'futures contracts' that have delivery dates as much as six months out.  Once these contracts expire, we can expect 'five-dollar gas; six-dollar diesel!'  As "Arschloch owe-bama" stated many times during his 2008--completely un-vetted--"Campaign of Fluff,"  Americans' utility costs will necessarily SKYROCKET!!  His 'Cap and Trade' plan included retrofitting refining facilities, energy production facilities, et al, to comply with new, advanced pollution regulations; all paid with vastly increased utility--and fuel--prices to the consumer.
   The Keystone XL pipeline will not only move Canadian crude oil to Gulf Coast refineries and shipping ports,  it'll move oil from North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, eastern Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska, as well!!  So, not only are we being exploited by Soros and the Arshloch with respect to jobs, the citizens of the aforementioned states are being shat-upon by a lack of crude oil transportation to the refineries, the shipping ports!!
