Will Biden Be Fluffy's "Test?" [Several months ago, the The "Crown-Dolt" of the Fluffy administration pledged that Fluffy obama's resolve would be tested within the first six-months of the new administration. Looks like the dolt's proximity to the family's financial dealings might be "The Test." I found this article on http://www.seekingalpha.com/ ] Zero Hedge is always happy to discover something rotten in the state of capital markets. We are even happier when others dig independently and come up with their own startling conclusions. Last night, we were very happy. John Hempton, who writes the insightful blog Bronte Capital, has done some amazing dot connecting in what, if true, and not swept promptly under the carpet by the powers that be, could expose a hedge fund scandal that could rival the Madoff fiasco, for the simple reason that it implicates none other than Barak Obama's right hand man: Joe Biden. The fund in question is Paradigm Capital, a fund of funds, that is controlled by Hunter and James Biden, the VP's son and brother, respectively. The full story is quite intricate but very much worth it. In putting the facts together, Hempton had a temporary brush in with "the adversary's" legal counsel, only the be vindicated when his initial subject, Ponte Negra Capital, ended up having its assets formally frozen by the SEC. But it does not end there. As Hempton lays it out best: Firstly the [Paradigm] business was not started by the Bidens – it was purchased by them. It was started by Dr James Park. When the Bidens purchased the business they believed it to have $1.5 billion of funds under management. This little section from an affidavit signed by James Biden (the VP’s brother) is revealing. (a). The Paradigm Hedge Funds had only between two and three hundred million dollars under management, which were leveraged to over five hundred million, not the more than $1.5 billion under management represented to us by Lotito and Fasciana. (b) The returns on the Paradigm Hedge Funds were not as represented to us by Lotito and Fasciana; and (with editing) (d). The primary manager of the funds, Dr. James Park, had an apparent substance abuse problem and had been an absentee manager for several years... Now please put this in perspective. The Bidens – mostly through failure to do proper due diligence – seem to have wound up in control of a fund of hedge funds which they claim (in sworn affidavit) that Had less than a fifth the funds under management that they represented to their customers, Had misrepresented their returns and Had a primary manager who had “an apparent substance abuse problem”. Now if you were told a fund manager only had a fifth the funds that he represented to the world, had misrepresented his returns and had a primary manager with a substance abuse problem what you say it is? Whatever – it quacks. ....Or, Will It Be The "Mexican" Flu? [Fluffy is making it painfully obvious that his political capital means more to him than the health of the American public. What dumb-ass would make this statement [and it wasn't that goof, biden!]: "Closing the borders would be like closing the door after the horse has gotten out?" To keep the rest of the "diseased horses" in the barn, dumb-ass!!!!] Travel agents and tour operators have cancelled flights and cruises to Mexico as the swine flu spreads through borders, having already reached nine countries on four continents, and the risk of a pandemic is imminent. Tour operators including TUI (Thomson, First Choice) and Thomas Cook have cancelled all UK flights to Cancun until at least 8 May. Virgin has cancelled package holidays to Mexico until 5 May, and tour operator Kuoni until 3 May. Meanwhile, a number of cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Fred Olsen, Holland America and Princess, said their ships will not be stopping at Mexican ports until at least 4 May and as far ahead as 14 June. European health ministers will meet today to discuss the possibility of issuing a continent-wide travel advisory for Mexico. French authorities have called for a ban on all flights between Europe and Mexico. Knowing firsthand just how hard it is to hold an audience's attention for a few hours makes it that much more amazing to have seen Rush do it for more than 20 years. To say that he has set the standard for success in broadcasting would truly be an understatement. Beck is a television and radio talk-show host and a No. 1 New York Times best-selling author. Fast Fact: Limbaugh says he likes to start every day with a strong cigar!! What kinda individual is going to be running the country later in the twenty-first century?? The list makes one wonder what it takes to be "influential?"] Edward Kennedy: The murderin' drunk came in at #133; beaten by the likes of Britney Spears[#30], Rush Limbaugh [#36], the Dalai Lama [#61] and fmr President George W. Bush [#75]!! Hillary Rob'em Clinton: #54. Nancy Pelosi [Porklosi], #53, "whooped her ass!!!! I thought this was a popularity contest rather than a factual ranking of accomplishments! The Fluffer obama had "his ass handed to him!!" Fluffy came in at #37, behind the likes of Rush Limbaugh [#36], Ron Paul [#27], Gamal Mubarak [#18], Angela Merkel [#8] and Anwar Ibrahim [#2! ....and this guy's a former third-world rathole ruler, up on sodomy charges! De Facto GM Head Screwing Shareholders[Check out this definition-de facto: Exercising power or serving a function without being legally or officially established: a de facto government. Fluffy obama, as the de facto head of Government Motors [recently renamed from the original General Motors] is applying the same fluffy math he used in forcing the Porkulus Package down the taxpayers' throats to screw GM investors. After you read the short article below, please come back up here and reconsider the examples I've developed using the same fluffy math. The impending Government Motors proposal concerning valuations of stock; 50% of the company for a $10Bln investment. Private bondholders [commoners, like you and I] will have a 10% of the company for a $27Bln investment. To equate this action to a real-life situation: You buy ground beef for $2.70/lb; your neighbor buys the same meat at the same place for $.20/lb. You buy an average house in an average neighborhood for $270,000; your neighbor buys an exact duplicate of the house in the same neighborhood for $20,000. The actual Government Motors transaction involves the same percentage calculations as do my two examples!! ] After a "Fluffy Briefing," General Motors CEO Fritz Henderson said Monday the company would offer the Treasury Department more than 50 percent of its stock to absolve GM of $10 billion in government loans. Combined, the union and government would own 89 percent of the century-old automaker, which has been bleeding red ink and is saddled with more than $62 billion in debt. GM's plan depends on persuading unsecured bondholders who have loaned GM $27 billion to forgive that debt in exchange for a 10 percent stake in the company. [Change-We-Can-Believe-In] Fluffy: Droppin' Like A Brick!! [Charlie Gibson, et al, ain't gonna tell ya 'bout these numbers!!] Polling data show that Mr. obama's approval rating is dropping and is below where George W. Bush was in an analogous period in 2001. Rasmussen Reports data shows that Mr. obama's net presidential approval rating-which is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve-is just six, his lowest rating to date. Overall, Rasmussen Reports shows a 56%-43% approval, with a third strongly disapproving of the president's performance. This is a substantial degree of polarization so early in the administration. Mr. obama has lost virtually all of his Republican support and a good part of his Independent support, and the trend is decidedly negative. [This'll Give Us.... Hope!]

Specter: Whattsa Big Deal? [Why are all the news readers touting this so heavily? It won't change the congressional balance of power one iota! Specter has practically always voted with the democRATs on anything substantive. He did break his usual "liberties-with-the-truth" policy to tell us the actual truth.... that he'd get "his ass whooped" in a republican primary in Pa-here's hopin' that the democRATs give him the same "ass whoopin'!!" The second paragraph of the article below, indicates to me that the "TaxDay TEA Parties" are having a positive effect-the momentum needs to continue!!] Mr. Specter announced his unexpected switch of political loyalties on Tuesday, saying that he was leaving the republican party because it had shifted far to the right of his views and because he did not think he could overcome a primary challenge next year. Mr. Specter acknowledged on Tuesday that his decision to change parties was driven by his intense desire to win that sixth term. It came after he and his political advisers concluded over the weekend that he could not turn away a conservative challenger in a Republican primary, particularly in light of his vote for the president’s economic porkulus package. Fluffy's "Back-Door" Deals
[GAWD!!! Will it ever end?? If he's not "hiring" crooked tax dodgers, he's pressuring folks to hide disparaging information from stockholders. Not knowing the full story could have potentially cost BoA investors "a tonna money!! "But, it wasn't Fluffy who withheld the information," you say......Technically correct... but, in the real world.... a boss [Fluffy] is ultimately responsible for what his employees [Bernanke, Paulson] do and say. "But how would The Fluffer know?"......you say. Again, technically correct, but had Fluffy spent more time in the real world [read: at a non-governmental entity; making payrolls, etc], he might have picked up his first modicum of executive experience. That experience would have alerted him to follow his crooked employees closer!! His executive experience STARTED on January 20th. Any previous time--be it as a community agitator, in the Illinois State Senate or his 142 days in the US Senate--he's just another hireling among thousands!!]
According to a recently obtained copy of CEO Ken Lewis' February testimony to New York's attorney general, Bernanke and then-Treasury chief Paulson pressured Bank of America to stay silent on its increasingly troubled deal to acquire Merrill Lynch. Despite an obligation to disclose any material financial hits to shareholders, officials pressed Lewis to keep quiet during government-funding negotiations to ensure important financial institutions wouldn't fail. Publicizing Merrill's losses would have allowed Bank of America's shareholders the opportunity to stop the deal and let Merrill collapse.
Who Has Your Insurance?
[If you have "The Hartford," you might want to consider shopping your insurance requirements around. Fluffy'll probably treat it like AIG and throw money at them.... nothing like "nationalizing" the private sector!!]
Hartford Financial Services is said to be seeking bids from rivals including Travelers Companies for its flagship property insurance business. Sources said Hartford has been shopping the unit after losses in its life division led to credit downgrades, and that damage from the financial crisis may ultimately lead to a breakup of the insurer. Bank of America (BAC). 1,860 new positions needed in several areas including consumer banking, small business banking, credit cards, home loans, global banking, wealth management, technology, human resources, finance, communications, marketing and administration. State Farm Insurance. An estimated 800+ new agents needed. There are positions in a variety of areas including claims and underwriting, finance, accounting and legal. The company aims to add 800 to 1000 new agent positions across the country, specifically in the Northeast, Texas and California. WellPoint (WLP). 1,225 new positions needed. It's hiring health outreach specialists, nurse case managers, accountants, actuaries, claims representatives, customer care representatives, enrollment and billing representatives, account managers, marketing managers, business analysts and sales assistants. Boeing (BA). 2460 positions are available in various areas such as engineering, finance, communications, contracts, intellectual property, information systems, program and project management, operations, quality, marketing, supplier management and supplier quality, legal, business development and some administrative and support positions. Microsoft (MSFT). 630 Positions are available in marketing, software development, customer service, information technology, operations, program management, small and medium business sales, software testing, administrative services, operations, user assistance and education, game design, content publishing, marketing communications, legal and finance. MetLife (MET). 1000 new positions are needed in areas of information technology, human resources, finance, operations, call center, administration and sales (including individual policies, group, home loans - mortgage and reverse mortgages). My Interpretation: If ALL EARNINGS from January 1st to Tax Freedom Day were given to the various government entities to satisfy tax obligations, Tax Freedom Day would theoritically, be the first day the worker could keep ANY MONEY!] This day comes at different dates, depending on the state. The United States as a whole, on average, comes on April 13th, involving 103 workdays. The Best State: Alaska; March 23rd; 82 workdays. They're BOTH CROOKS; it's just as illegal to profit from inside information as it is to dispense it!! Will we see and investigation and trial, ala "Martha Stewart?" Nah.... Can you imagine the un-Godly pressure this guy was under... trying to achieve success while working under Fluffy's assinine financial policies? Did you know that Freddie Mac-in concert with Fannie Mae-own or administer 56% of all American mortgages? Did you know that the number of approved mortgage applicants increased 50%, just in the last month?!?! This incredible growth can only mean a lowering of standards!! Did you know that the FreddieMac/FannieMae mortgage default rates DOUBLE EVERY MONTH? Now, that's pressure!!] The acting chief financial officer of Freddie Mac, an embattled government-owned company that controls millions of home mortgages, was found dead today of apparent suicide in his suburban Virginia home. Fairfax County Police were called to the Vienna, Va.-area home of Freddie Mac's David Kellermann at 4:48 a.m. to investigate. Though it appeared to be suicide, they said the cause of death is under investigation, with an autopsy planned today. It's Earth Day In honor of this less-than-auspicious day, I'm gonna go out and cut down a half-dozen "old-growth" trees [with a gas guzzlin,' carbon spewin,' thirty-year-old chainsaw]!! The "Apology Tour" Continues
Der Fluffmeister's weekend of summitry in Latin America will be remembered most for his cordial encounter with Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. The images of that smiling handshake spoke vividly to the changes Fluffy obama is bringing to U.S. relations abroad. [Given the horrific, communistic treatment of the United States by that Rathole Pompous Potentate-Hugo Chavez, an American military officer cozying up to him would be held to charges of treason. As an included position of the presidency, The Fluffer is the Commander-in-Chief of the US military. The highest to the lowest member of the military is subject to the same military code. Hence, the entire "Apology Tour" should be held up to judicial scrutiny. The tour has done nothing but apologize for America supporting it's interests on the world stage.]
The underlying question in all this is whether Obama's approach means the United States will be dealing out of a position of strength or weakness as the new administration confronts problems ranging from Iran's nuclear ambitions to Middle East peace to better relations in this hemisphere. [The media as usual, has it all wrong: Even the "koolAid drinkers" are beginning to realize that in this ongoing "Planetary Apology Tour," Fluffy is dealing from a position of naivete; one hundred, forty-two days as a legislator, does not a world leader make!!] Obama was asked an explicit question. Would he, in his first year as president, be willing to meet without preconditions with the leaders of Iran, Syria, North Korea, Venezuela and Cuba. "I would," he replied. "And the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them -- which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration -- is ridiculous." [You're right, Fluff'..... but that's not the point..... Point is: You're letting the potentates of these third-world ratholes dictate the agenda.... that shows real international power now, doesn't it? How naive can you be? You might consider recruiting another team of {higher-quality} handlers!]
Another Scam?
Not unlike the Stauer "Free Pearls" Scam [see Dec 8th entry], I accidently discovered what I believe to be the next scam in my household-The History Channel Club. Although, unlike the Stauer scam, I didn't order anything and give them my card number!! [It was a Bi**h getting the money refunded!!]
After getting a letter threatening to turn me over to collections, I grudgingly sent a check for $24 to cover two years' subscription. To start with, I had returned a previous bill marked "please canx." Two year subscriptions are the minimum. In today's mail I receive a "nicey-nice" letter telling me that if I used the inclosed $24 coupon, it will effectively return all subscription monies I had EVER paid them. I would then be a "Life Member!" The words "life member" and "free" were used in many, many places in various pieces of the literature. So, like a dumb-ass, I tear off the coupon and put it in the postage-paid envelope, ready for the postman. T-h-e-n... I get to reading the rest of the propaganda.....

A Tea Party Commentary
[I follow several blogs here on blogspot. One of those is "Conservatism with Heart" written by "Dee." She mentioned the following piece she pulled from the Kansas City Star. I thought it worth repeating.]
Tea party movement captures real concerns By E. THOMAS McCLANAHAN The Kansas City Star What I found most amusing about last week’s tea party protests was the palpable defensiveness of many Democrats and lefties in general. Steve Glorioso, a Kansas City political consultant, dismissed the gatherings as something “dreamed up and promoted by the likes of Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey.” The tea party that took place in Kansas City, he said, was “basically a Republican-led, right wing conservative political event.” Bloggers at Playboy, noting how quickly the movement grew, figured it must be backed by some secret group. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the whole thing was “AstroTurf” — not a genuine grassroots effort. Liberal actress Janeane Garofalo suggested tea-party attendees were racists with substandard brains. True, Gingrich and Armey have been involved, and the tea parties have an obvious anti-Obama slant. Various facets of the Republican Party and conservative movement are keen to use the energy the tea party events represent. But that energy was there first and it was spontaneous, and it’s far from clear that it can be translated into greater support for Republican candidates in next year’s congressional races. The movement began in February with a protest organized by Seattle blogger Keli Carender. Her target: the $787 billion stimulus bill. That led to rallies in other cities. The movement acquired a name with the famous “rant heard round the world” by CNBC’s Rick Santelli, who called for a Chicago “tea party.” After that, the movement took off. What we’re seeing is a center-right populist outpouring prompted by the long-term implications of President Barack Obama’s gargantuan budget, his spending plans, the massive tide of red ink those plans will generate — and, most important, what all that implies about the future balance between the government and the private sector. I attended the tea party Wednesday at Kansas City’s Liberty Memorial, and I couldn’t find anyone who thought the event was about partisan politics. “Both parties are corrupt,” said Brian Stednick of North Kansas City. Those with whom I spoke were mostly concerned about the rising national debt, ballooning federal spending — and the threat of higher taxes. Some mentioned the risk of future hyperinflation, given the huge sums of money flowing out of the government and Federal Reserve. “We’re scared to see all the money being spent, and we wonder what’s going to happen to our children and grandchildren,” said Dan Ellsworth of Holt, Mo. “We’re just concerned about the direction this country is going.”

The graph displayed nearby, which has been making the rounds on the Web for the last couple of weeks, crystallizes the fear of many that the government is veering into dangerous territory. Those who criticized President Bush and the GOP Congress for fiscal irresponsibility were correct; when the Republicans were in power, they spent with little restraint. But as the graph shows, the deficit under Bush was shrinking until the housing bubble popped and the economy tanked. By comparison, the coming Obama deficits are in a league of their own. On average, Obama’s plan would generate trillion-dollar deficits for the next 10 years, with chilling implications for future tax rates and the government’s financial health. The tea party protests recall the Ross Perot phenomenon of the early 1990s. Then as now, the basic concerns were massive federal spending and the size of government. Then as now, the movement blossomed outside the confines of traditional Democratic-Republican politics. Perot, however, provided leadership and focus, and that’s what’s lacking now. “There are too many issues embedded in this single protest,” said political scientist George Connor of Missouri State University. “I don’t see these numbers generating a national wave. I just don’t see it.” Maybe, maybe not. Obama’s budget and his radical agenda have triggered an angry, nationwide protest. The next several months will provide hints as to whether the leaderless Republicans, still casting about for fresh ideas, can translate some of that anger into real support for candidates. Guvner "Double-Dealin' Dave" Paterson of New York is scammin' both sides of the 'Gay Marriage' issue. Whether he actually believes in this issue is immaterial. He's "thumbing his nose" at the NY voter by putting it forth for legislative consideration even though the general consensus is that they don't want it. He's scamming the gay community by bringing the issue forth, knowing he hasn't the legislative backing for it to pass into law!

Fluffy has asked department heads to cut $100Mln from their budgets, W-O-W!! That's attacking the problem!! With all the big figures floating around the DC Cesspool, the taxpayer is easily deceived by the millions, billions and trillions they spend. The millions of dollars talked about today are quite similar to the thousands of dollars talked about in my day-the 1960s.
In today's vernacular, this $100Mln has as much comparative value as a bucket of warm spit!! The $100Mln The Fluffer wants cut by those several departments equals less than one two-thousandth of the current budget proposal!! That same $100Mln equals only one-seventh of the 2009 interest on the Porkulus Bill!!

Texas Gov. Rick Perry joined a group of lawmakers Thursday in speaking out against the federal government and for a Texas House resolution [H.C.R. No. 50] that supports states' rights in the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. "I believe that our federal government has become oppressive. I believe it's become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens and its interference with the affairs of our state," Perry said. Perry's anti-Washington remarks have been heating up lately in his race for re-election against U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, a fellow Republican.

In Case You Lost Yours
A few days ago, I received my copy of the United States Constitution from the U.S. Government Printing Office. You need one? They have two models: a $3 one and a $10 one.
The $3 one is published for 'U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services'-I presume for immigrants [the legal variety] to study for their test. This booklet is about 6-1/4" high by 3-1/4" wide. It contains the the text of the Declaration of Independence, text of the Constitution, the text of all 27 amendments, "important dates to remember," index to the Constitution and it's amendments and quotes by James Mason, John Marshall and James Madison.
I find the $10 model an easier read, only due to it's size- 9" high by 6" wide. This one contains a historical note [a kinda preamble to the possibility of revising the Articles of Confederation], the text of the Constitution, the Amendments, Proposed Amendments Not Ratified and an index to the Constitution and Amendments.

Ya wanna know how the "Tea Parties" really got started?? Here it is, in an article in today's Wall Street Journal:
In case you managed to forget, today is Tax Day. And according to the Wall Street Journal, "Tax Day Becomes Protest Day." There will be rallies or "tea parties" taking place all over the United States today, to protest higher taxes and out-of-control government spending. DR contributor, Gerald Celente, who is director of The Trends Research Institute, calls these tea parties and tax protests "harbingers of revolution." So who are these 'revolutionaries' that are organizing these events? Turns out, not a political party or a union...just ordinary people harnessing the power of the Information Superhighway. The WSJ reports: "The protests began with bloggers in Seattle, Wash., who organized a demonstration on Feb. 16. As word of this spread, rallies in Denver and Mesa, Ariz., were quickly organized for the next day. Then came CNBC talker Rick Santelli's Feb. 19 'rant heard round the world' in which he called for a 'Chicago tea party' on July Fourth. The tea-party moniker stuck, but angry taxpayers weren't willing to wait until July. Soon, tea-party protests were appearing in one city after another, drawing at first hundreds, and then thousands, to marches in cities from Orlando to Kansas City to Cincinnati."

This'n'That; April 17th[Janson]

My Long-Gone Friend She should be 61 years old today-but she's gone.... gone to that place where there's no disease, no confrontation, no rainy days, no "patient access" files and no checkbooks to balance. See, the story of my friend and I is somewhat short but it's the kind, loving sort. She came along just when I needed someone like her most!! The relationship really started through an on-line dating site where we met and conversed while I was getting loaded.....NO, absolutely not!! At the time, I was an over-the-road truck driver, thus occasionally spent long periods waiting for freight to be loaded or unloaded. When I started the trucking phase of my work life, one of my family members handled my financial affairs-something I found extremely difficult "from the road." Somewhere along the line, that family member "borrowed" money from my checking account without my knowledge. Now, I'm "in a pickle!!" Do I trust this lady, Pat [Janson, Ontario {Wayne Co.,}, NY], whom I've never met, or do I leave my finances in the hands of someone I no longer have complete trust in?? Well, she "sounded" nice during our IM chats.... ah, what-ta-Hell, I'll take a chance.....!! Now, ya gotta know.... I owned my own truck so there was at times, a lot of income; at times, a lot of expenses!! And, I'm gonna put my financial health and wellbeing in the hands of a relative stranger?!?! We're talkin' a complete stranger to the trucking industry; Pat didn't know a Freightliner from a shelf liner!! About 48 hours after we met face-to-face, there were new checking, savings and investment accounts in BOTH OUR NAMES!! I could not have picked a better person for the job!!! Pat was honest to a fault-One of my phone calls was her asking if she could buy a roll of stamps!!!! At the time, she could have written one of my checks for $10,000 and it wouldn't have bounced!! She couldda cleaned me out-'cept it never crossed her mind. An added benefit to knowing Patricia Janson..... she introduced me to one of her co-workers, "The Young Miss Lovely!!" Not only was Pat honest to a fault, she was an excellent judge of people and of character!! There's not a day goes by that we don't think of Pat; I know her other friends, NanniGoat, Robin, and all the ladies she worked with, feel the same way!! Til Nex'Time....

The "Big" Day
The day some regret has arrived! Ya gotta pay your taxes, or at least file the forms. Beyond that, this is "Taxpayer Tea Party Day" as well! FIRST and FOREMOST...To be effective, each and every 'Tea Party' MUST be SAFE and NON-VIOLENT!! There are hundreds scheduled around the country; I intend to attend the one in Rochester, NY. I'm sure there'll be other protest meetings throughout the country-throughout the year. Fluffmeister Continues Community Agitation
[I saw the news articles warning the Missouri Highway Patrol that vehicles displaying "Ron Paul" bumper stickers should be considered "right-wing extremists." After a cursory overview, I didn't give it much credence. Now I see this article from the DHS! [One might think it's from ACORN or from "Fluffy-The Community Agitator"] They're warning law enforcement that those of us who buy guns, buy ammo, complain about the economy, complain about the way Fluffy obama is destroying America, are to be considered "right-wing extremists" and are to be monitored! You-bettcher-ass I'm a "right-wing extremist!!" I want back, the America I grew up in! Preferably, unscathed by the ill-conceived economic policies of the Fluffy administration. Where was the DHS when we bitched about the economic policies of the previous administration??] The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement agencies that recent news is helping "right-wing extremist groups" recruit new members and could lead to violence, and warns about the possible recruitment and radicalization of returning veterans. DHS' Office of Intelligence and Analysis issued an intelligence assessment last week that said it has no specific information that domestic right-wing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but right-wing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on fears about the recession and the election of the first African American president. The office called them "unique drivers for right-wing radicalization and recruitment." "The current economic and political climate has some similarities to the 1990s when right-wing extremism experienced a resurgence fueled largely by an economic recession, criticism about the outsourcing of jobs and the perceived threat to U.S. power and sovereignty by other foreign powers.," it continues. The report also suggests that returning veterans are attractive recruits for right-wing groups looking for "combat skills and experience" so as to boost their "violent capabilities." It adds that new restrictions on gun ownership and the difficulty of veterans to reintegrate into their communities "could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks." "Proposed imposition of firearms restrictions and weapons bans likely would attract new members into the ranks of right-wing extremist groups ... The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by right-wing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement," the report says. The assessment notes that right-wing recruitment grew in the 1990s but subsided after increased scrutiny by the government following the 1995 Oklahoma City bombings. "DHS has no specific information that domestic right-wing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but right-wing extremists may be gaining new recruitments by playing on their fears about several emerging issues," Kuban said.

I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American. I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything. Get over it! I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English.. I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to. My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and Willie G. Davidson that makes the Awesome Harley Davidson Motorcycles. I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it. I've never owned a slave, or was a slave, I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already. I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA ..We like it the way it is! If you were born here and don't like it you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you. I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one? I also think the cops have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are. And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license. I think it's good..... And I'm proud that 'God' is written on my money. I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years. I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause. Get a Job and do your part! I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents. I believe 'illegal' is illegal no matter what the lawyers think. I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA ! If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a BAD American. They Ain'No "Fluff" Here!
[I found the text of the resolution during "site checks" I make most days, in search of interesting things to comment on. Who wudda ever thunk it?!?! I cudda been the first with this; the only place I found any early reference was on the Texas official website. In any case, it's out here now, although about......how many days have we been "officially Fluffed??".... oh, eighty-five days...... that makes the Texas House's resolution about 86 days late!! What seems to be the "straw-that-broke-the-camel's-back" in this fiasco are the whole host of restrictions put on Texas' share of Porkulus tied to their unemployment insurance fund. To get $555Million in Porkulus, Texas had to adhere to the following restrictions:
The federal porkulus funds distributed to the states come from the Federal Unemployment Account based on the state's share of the federal unemployment taxes paid. In order to get $555 million in federal porkulus funds, the state must change the state law. [A] To receive one third of the funding (approximately $185 million), the state must have an alternate base period for purposes of calculating eligibility that includes using the most recent quarter of wage credits in the calculation.
Under current state law, the state provides unemployment benefits to individuals who have wages in two of the first four of the last five quarters, thereby excluding any wages earned in the most recent quarter. [B] To receive the additional two-thirds of the funding, the state must make the change to the alternate period (above) and also change state statutes to extend benefits to two of the following four groups: Provide benefits to individuals seeking only part-time work when they previously worked part-time.
Currently, individuals must seek full-time work regardless of whether they worked full-time or part-time.
Provide benefits to individuals who voluntarily left employment for a compelling family reason, including: [1] domestic violence (already provided under Texas law); [2] illness or disability of an immediate family member (federal requirements require more than state provisions that already include illness of minor child or terminally ill spouse); [3] accompanying a spouse when moving for the spouse's job (Texas currently covers military families). [4] Provide 26 weeks of additional compensation to unemployed individuals that have exhausted their unemployment benefits and are participating in state-approved or WIA funded training programs. [5] Increase payments by at least $15 per dependent, per week capped at lesser of $50 or 50% of the individual's weekly benefit amount.
If ya ask me, that's one heluva straw!! Where are the other forty-nine governors on the "States Rights" issue?

Brandon Creighton and sponsors of [Texas] House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. “I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said.
“I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”
A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states’ right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government. It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.
HCR 50 is authored by Representatives Brandon Creighton, Leo Berman, Bryan Hughes, Dan Gattis and Ryan Guillen.
